we stayed there 5 nights. the location is awesome but the beds are VERY unconfortable (thin thin thin). the place is very cold and the place is dirty... everywhere. The beds are not changed between people... it's a backpacker factory... the groundfloor is the worst.. the bathroom and showers are nasty but there is hot water! lots of hot water....

The staff are very friendly, locations is great. Monkey temple is about 40 min walk away, Durbar square 30min. The atmosphere is great on the roof and the food is good too. They have a travel agent were you can book tours for a good price or buy bus tickets. They have good lockers my 65 litre backpack and smaller...

I had booked a single room with bathroom on Hostelworld at Alobar 1000. When I got to the hostel, I was told that they are overbooked, so my room is not available and I will be staying my first night at twin room, which I have to pay for. I told them that I do not need two beds, so...

A super nice place with great crowd. Had jam sessions every night, although we were asked to stop after 23:00, as it is mandatory to stay quiet in Thamel from 23:00 onwards. The showers on the roof terrace had hot water :D

Love this place. Have spent several nights here during my time in Nepal, both at the beginning and at the end. Dorms are great value for money and the rooftop cafe and common room is very comfortable with lots of cushions and good food and service. Staff are great. Everything is kept clean. Thanks for a great stay Alobar!

The food is cheap and good. The vibe is nice and the staff is friendly. Breakfast is a winner. And absolute good basic hostel! A bit to much stoners on the rooftop but that's far from every night. Matrasses are too hard for a good sleep.

This hostel has a really good location and is very nice to meet other people when you're a single traveller. If you want good showers and beds, then you'll be disapointed. The mattresses are really bad (there's like nothing left of it). If you want comfort, don't go here. If you want to meet other travellers and you don't mind...

Pros- very good food+ it is cheap. lively place in the evening. Cons- Where do I start? staff are totally incompetent(the smallest of tasks is a major ordeal with them). I witnessed a case of theft by a STAFFMEMBER.....someone in my room had something go missing and I happened to walk in on the staffmember trying to replace the item...
