This is a Grand Hotel! A real one! Sure there are many glitches and problems, but I loved staying here; this is close enough to the splendor days when it was built that it was really enjoyable to be a guest here, and I could overlook the quirks and issues. These are there and if you mind them too much,...

I have not stayed here. I have eaten at the Sunday brunch buffet in the lobby twice. It is huge. The food is a little inconsistent, but not bad. While we ate we listened to performers in the lobby playing traditional instruments and tradtional music. The environment makes it worth the cost. We were a party of six. The others...

A hotel with a lot of history and well worth the price to stay. I stayed two nights in the Chi-Lin rooms facing east, and there was a fantastic view of the 101 Building in the distance. The hotel itself sits prominently on the Yuanshan mountain, but is far enough away from anything so that road or air traffic noise...

My sister and I were mostly on a budget trip around Taipei, but decided to splurge for one night at the Grand Hotel, and are so glad we did. We were upgraded for free to a deluxe double room, and there was an amazing view of the city from the terrace (unfortunately, no chairs on the terrace). The beds were...

We stayed here last weekend for a quick three-day getaway. The room was an executive suite and it was superb, with a grand balcony/patio that wrapped around the corner of the room, huge windows with great views, and a nicely appointed room. The hotel is old, but within the room and in most of the public places things were clean...

This is really a GRAND hotel. The style and architecture is beautiful. While this is an older hotel, we found it very comfortable, clean and stylish. We loved the views and had a lovely dinner in the restaurant. We enjoyed the live music in the opulent lobby too.

This locale will no doubt resonate more with Chinese than with foreigners, but I would urge any westerners coming through to also give it a try. I was a student in Taiwan in an earlier era and my wife and I are here visiting friends. The hotel was built in the 50s and at the time was the biggest thing...

Stayed at this overrated hotel towards the end of Chinese New Year. Reception and other staff clueless in trying to check-in a party of nine, occupying five rooms. Michelin must base their star rating ONLY on food.
