It was my second hotel in Thailand, and i really reccomend all people to stay here. I really had a good stay there for 3 days, Bep the owner is such a sweet lady and helped me out with everything! I got an upgrade on the second day and stayed in the Kings room. Perfect location and such a good service. She even bought me pad thai as i wanted to try it. I will come back here for sure 🙏 Many blessings to Bep her son and the rest of the staff!
Uncle Loy’s is one of the hotels I will carry forever in my memories, mainly because of Beb, the lovely owner who runs it with her son, her kindness and her bright attitude and big heart. I loved it here! The location is excellent, just a quick walk to Wat Arun (or ferry boat) and the other main temples, in the middle of the old town, Riverside by Siriraj hospital (the landmark all Thais know). It’s 2 minute walk to one of the best local markets Wang Lang, and 5 mins to the pier. If you want a real thai experience away from farangs and skyscrapers, this is the place for you! Tucked away is a little Soi you can get peaceful sleeps with the sound of the birds chirping. The room is spacious and super clean, towels are changed every day as well as provided toiletries, the shower is massive and bed comfy. The hotel is a boutique designed shabby chic 2 floor house from Beb’ original home with trees inside and a fantastic patio. A dream house! The highlights: thai breakfast with fresh fruit or western as you like, to enjoy in the open dining room and you can even make eggs yourself, and most of it all, you get to spend time with Beb, the most good hearted Thai woman on earth. We became friends and wandered around the markets…and the laughters, when you don’t need the same language to speak and hearts connect 💙 she made me delicious food and tried thai specialities I wouldn’t have been able to pick on my own. From 3 days I ended up staying 2 weeks and left only to be able to carry on with my journey to the islands. I can’t wait to be back, it’s a place I can call home in Bangkok 🇹🇭 Ka so much Beb and son 🙏🏽 will definitely be back! Lots of love xxx…
We recently bookended 9 days in Bhutan with stays in Bangkok, both times staying at Uncle Loy's. It is located near the Siri Rat market on the west bank of the Chao Phraya River. While many of the tourist sites on on the east side of the river, Uncle Loy's is a 10 minute walk from a ferry pier, and the ferries take just minutes to get you across for a reasonable price ( 3.5 baht pp). We stayed in the White Room, which is a two room suite, including a minifridge, plenty of snacks, coffee, tea, beer, and good air conditioning. Included with a stay in the White Room is a breakfast made for you by the owner's mother. We had pad thai, green curry and other thai delights each morning, along with lots of fruit, rice or noodles and more. Our host Pakawat, was gracious, friendly and most helpful. He had great advice about what to see, and readily prearranged transport to and from the airport for a reasonable price (I definitely recommend doing this). And ask for a copy of his hand drawn map showing the ferry piers and sites to see on both river banks!…
We love the neighborhood with a big local market (especially food, but also clothes and other things) and I can’t have enough words to praise the hosts. It’s a mother and a son who are running this boutique house and they were very helpful with everything we need.
General: This is a good hotel with nice interior and exterior. I will not explain further as you can see photos yourself. - Room: Clean, equipped, spacious with very comfortable pillows and mattress, sound-proof. - Location: 5 minute walk to Siriraj Hospital, Wang Lang. - Food: Very good quality and great variety for breakfast. - Free and good strength wi-fi throughout hotel. Added value: Hotel owner which is professional yet friendly and ready to help. Subtle in offering assistance but not annoying and respecting the guest’s privacy! These I find extremely important and that is what made this hotel different in a positive way from many others I stayed at in the past. .Would definitely stay here again
We stayed at Uncle Loy's for four nights in Bangkok - the landlady, Beb was super caring, forever smiling, beyond kind, helping us with ferry routes and a route map around Thailand, talking to cab drivers when our Grabtaxi would be late, feeding us wonderful mango sticky rice! She made us eat a lot of tropical fruit - rambutans, mangosteens, longans, watermelons, along with the option to cook our own eggs and toast. The rooms are super cosy and neat, the firm beds are great for my aching back. It's located in a quiet, residential lane, and yet just a ferry hop away from the madness of the sightseeing places. We'll come back again.
This is really a homestay in an alley 3 minutes walk away from Sirirraj Hospital where I had a 2 day event. The whole place was tastefully done up and the room was big and cosy. The owner is a nice lady who was very doting. The dining area is just next to the entrance and there was free DIY breakfast of eggs, toast, butter and jam washed down with a good selection of tea and coffee. There is plenty of street food and 2 7-Elevens mere minutes by foot away. I will definitely come back again.
Wonderfully clean, nice, and helpful hosts. The breakfast consisted of eggs, toast, and fruit. It was a great start of the day. The host made us feel like it was our home for the duration of our stay. I loved this place!
My husband and I stayed here for 2 nights but would definitely have stayed longer if we had the time. The owners are very welcoming and made us feel very at home. Our room was very clean and had great bathroom facilities. The bed was hard as mentioned in other reviews but we actually slept really well, it was really comfortable. The kitchen self/service area is very clean and breakfast was lovely fresh fruits. Large fridge in the kitchen which is stocked with cold bottled water for free which is a great bonus in the heat. The location is great, we used the piers and the grab app to get around. Very close to Wat Arun. Would definitely recommend and hope to return one day.
We loved it here! At first, the location is a little challenging to find, but for us, that was all part of the fun! The location is excellent, and really local. The location is so close to the pier to access water taxis that take you to the main sight seeing destinations in Bangkok. Upon check in, you are given a clear map that highlights some nearby restaurants and amenities. Breakfast was yummy: toast, lots of fruit and eggs. Our room was everything we needed: clean, air con, good shower, and a place to rest from a busy day sightseeing. We were sent a message about hard beds upon booking, but they were really not a problem! We both slept very well! I couldn't believe how quiet it could be in the middle of Bangkok. It was really peaceful. On our last day we wanted to visit a floating market, and the owner very kindly took us to a bus stop, and informed the driver where we wanted to go. If we were in Bangkok again, we would not hesitate to stay here again! Thank you!…
