There is nothing luxurious about this place. It's the average Khaosan/Rambuttri place, which would be fine, but not for that price. The room was ok, although very small, but everything is just too old and run down. Also annoying: the bed had wheels and would roll away if you leaned against the wall to read. There also seems to be...

Good quiet interior room, away from street noise. Nice views from river view rooms & patio. Easy to make reservations. Nice pool for taking a break from sightseeing & Bangkok heat. Convieniently located to river taxi, Rambuttri, great restaurants & Khao San. Breakfast buffet offers a lot of options, but better, more organic, hearty breakfast is available across the street....

Stayed for 10 nights, making the NSRGH in Bangkok our base for various excursions, including one to Ayuthaya. Our accommodation on the top floor had two rooms, one of which was handy for watching TV. We had a lovely private balcony overlooking the river, a great place to sit early or late in the day. A short walk to the...

Spacious, clean, comfy room and bath. Excellent breakfast buffet. The room with balcony is just wonderful and worth its price. Perfect place to rest, well-kept and oh so quiet (exceptionnal in Bangkok). New Siam has been my refuge in Bangkok for abt. 25 years! Back then, it was already the cleanest on KhaoSan. Every time I went to BKK, I...

Really nice staff and good sized clean rooms are what first hit you. The view of the Chao Phraya, from the 5th floor, is awesome. I've stayed in much pricier hotels with the same view, so this is spectacular. Close to the University, nice boardwalk access and of course, right at the gate of Khao San Road.

The hotel has a calm atmosphere, and that's why I've returned there when in Bangkok. Also I like the pool. Both pool and restaurant face the river, and there's access to the sidewalk along the river where you can just walk or go a little ways and get on a boat. A nice breakfast buffet is included and staff is...

Stayed here for 2 nights arranged by the University of Thammasat. Room is rather small but the view is really breathtaking from its balcony on the 6th floor. There are only 5 rooms available at the 6th floor. We got the second room from the lift. On the first night, air conditioning was not functioning well and it cannot be...

This hotel is basic, but very comfortable and clean. The setting is beautiful next to the river. Breakfast is very generous and varied and you can eat it outside looking over the river. The swimming pool is very nice as well. Staff are friendly and helpful. They even cooked a special meal for our son that was suffering from an...

Staying in Banglamphu

Neighbourhood Profile
Banglamphu
While you’ll see skyscrapers in most parts of Bangkok, it’s the gilded roofs of ancient pagodas that adorn the skyline of Banglamphu, the city’s historical and most touristic district. Hordes of tourists flock to this area to tick quite a few must-see attractions off their to-do list, with the Grand Palace being the most spectacular of them all. Banglamphu is also home to Bangkok’s infamous tourist ghetto, centered around Khao San Road. Visit at night to feast on road-side pad thai, cheap beers and if you’re up for it, some dancing fueled by buckets of Thai whiskey.
