I usually stay at fairly expensive hotels and guest houses in Bangkok because for the rest of the year I stay in small towns and villages helping our with various educational projects. This time I just wanted to try something new so I checked into the Fortville Guesthouse. It is a short walk to museums, Khaosan, great restaurants, Jazz Happens,...

LIKE: 1) I like the sweet and charming receptionist (a chinese pretty lady). She is so helpful and pleasant. 2) The design/style of the hotel is special (that's why it is named as fortville). They have a very special lift 3) It is located near to Kao Shan road (still need to walk around 10 - 15min to reach) and...

Fortville is really quite brilliant, it is built in the style of a thai fort and is in keeping with the road on which it is situated, Thanon Phra Sumen. This road has ruins of an old city wall running along it, as well as a real fort which is just near Fortville Gueshouse. The theme continues in the rooms,...

We stayed at the Fortville for 2 nights. The rooms were quite compact but very clean. The bed was very low and hard but I actually loved sleeping on it. We could connect to the wifi in the cafe from our room but it did not always work. The cafe downstairs was really good food but perhaps more expensive than...

I stayed here for two nights. The room was plain but very clean. There was no wifi connection in our room and we had to use the wifi in the cafe downstairs, I'm not sure if this is true of all the rooms. The guesthouse is very well located about a 10 min walk from Koh San Road and just...

There is nowhere to put your bags in the room besides on the floor. No fridge. Free wifi only for one device for 3 hours per day. Some of people at the...

the room was clean and very basic. Think living out of a backpack. We stayed 3 days, which was just perfect as its so tiny. We wanted a room at a good price, close enough to walk to khao san, without the noise thats comes with staying there. For this, it was perfect. 5 mins walk, 7 11 across the...

This is our second time at the Fortville. It's a nice and simple. And in a good location. Not to far from famous Khaosan road (just a few minutes walk), but the "busy-sounds" of it won't effect you at all :-) ..

Staying in Banglamphu

Neighbourhood Profile
Banglamphu
While you’ll see skyscrapers in most parts of Bangkok, it’s the gilded roofs of ancient pagodas that adorn the skyline of Banglamphu, the city’s historical and most touristic district. Hordes of tourists flock to this area to tick quite a few must-see attractions off their to-do list, with the Grand Palace being the most spectacular of them all. Banglamphu is also home to Bangkok’s infamous tourist ghetto, centered around Khao San Road. Visit at night to feast on road-side pad thai, cheap beers and if you’re up for it, some dancing fueled by buckets of Thai whiskey.
