I liked the hostel's location (close to the skytrain, food/shopping nearby). The rooms are nice with spacious lockers. The hostel is kept very clean, no complaints there. The common area is rather dark. Breakfast was freshly prepared and good. The staff is friendly and helpful (not everyone speaks English, but they will try to get hold of the English-speaking owner...

Smile Society is definitely value for money. The location is superb. There is shopping facilities, countless cafes, street food, massage parlours, convenient stores, and many other amenities nearby. The night scene is close by too. The subway is just a five min walk away. Easily accessible to everywhere. With the kind of rates they charge, it's indeed an excellent hostel...

Me and my partner stayed here in a private double with ensuite when we first arrived in Bangkok. The included breakfast, daily room service, tv in room and air con definately gave it more of a guest house feel, whilst the usual expectances of a hostel so it was easy to come and go and meet people. The lovely hostel...

Smile Society is tucked in a quiet area of Silom but few steps only from the nightlife of Patpong and around Sala Daeng Station in Silom. I took the Triple Room and its just right size with comfortable bed, airconditioned room, daily supply of bottled water, clean toilet with bidet its an ensuite room so not so sure about the...

Simply put, this is a decent hostel, run by helpful and friendly staff. However, you cannot help but notice how outdated it is. I fear it will seriously struggle to compete with the newer, more efficient hostels in the future. To have many of the hostel rules communicated in the form of scrappy post-it notes and pieces of paper everywhere...

Staying in Silom

Neighbourhood Profile
Silom
Despite the lack of any major tourist attractions, this lively neighborhood is a favorite of many. Whether it's the (somewhat naughty) nightlife of Soi Patpong, the various handicraft night markets or the plethora of dining options that tickle your fancy, a night out in Silom is a must on every itinerary. It's worth a stop during daytime, too: join office workers on a quest to tasty street food during lunch and shop at Silom Complex for a great mix of Thai and international stores. After a day of strolling around the congested sidewalks, a visit to Silom's Lumphini Park, Bangkok's answer to NYC's Central Park, is a welcome change of scenery.
