Bangkok is a buzzy and bold city, planned not from the top down but created from the bottom up. That exact spirit of innovation and unconventionality has made the Thai capital the perfect locale for our Asia flagship, with The Standard, Bangkok Mahanakhon. Located in one of the most iconic buildings in the city, the 155-room hotel is already a landmark. With rooms ranging from 40 sqm to a sprawling 144 sqm penthouse, a terrace pool, fitness center, meeting rooms, and a dynamic variety of food, drink, and nightlife venues, The Standard, Bangkok Mahanakhon is a fit for any traveler, at any time of day or night. There’s The Parlor, the hub of the hotel for socializing, cocktails, work, lounging, live music, lectures, and more, the eclectic and unexpected tea room; Tease, American steakhouse classics at The Standard Grill, an award-winning Chinese cuisine by Mott 32, and two remarkable sky-high dining experience from Ojo Bangkok a Mexican-inspired restaurant directed by one of the finest young chefs in Mexico to Sky Beach the highest alfresco rooftop bar in Bangkok.

The Standard Bangkok hotel garners acclaim for its chic and stylish atmosphere, with guests often highlighting its Instagram-worthy decor. The modern and comfortable rooms with breathtaking views of the city receive positive remarks, although minor criticisms are occasionally noted. While the hotel's service is generally celebrated for being friendly and top-notch, some guests have experienced disorganization and slow service. Opinions on value are split; some find the pricing reasonable for the amenities, including luxury offerings and prime location near the skytrain and shopping areas, others deem it costly. The hotel's cleanliness is consistently praised, but some guests feel certain amenities, like the pool size and breakfast options, fall short of expectations.

From the minute we set foot into this newly opened FABULOUS hotel we were blown away by the meticulous design, quality of the spaces and the attention to detail throughout. Service and food was of the the highest standard .

The guest rooms are spacious and bright with floor to ceiling windows ( breathtaking views especially at night ) Well designed bathrooms with all the the amenities you can wish for ! Best breakfast in BKK . Gym with great views and generous pool and outdoor area for lounging.

The friendliness of the Front Office Manager (Tina) and the Experience Manager (Jessica) couldn't have made us feel more welcome and they took service to an unsurpassed level. Already planning another future stay ....

The Standard Bangkok exceeded all expectations
and more!
What a beautiful hotel situated in the heart of the
Silom/ Sathorn area and located within the
magnificent King Power Mahanakorn building.
BTS station across the road making it very convenient.

Check in was a breeze. Very fast and professional.
We got vouchers to go up to the top of the
buildIng, 78 floors up. The view, needless to say.,
was breathtaking.

Breakfast was awesome! Ala carte breakfast is the
way to go I say. Not a fan of buffets.
Lots of healthy options available and
both the western and Thai items were delicious and
beautifully plated and presented. Fresh coconut water, avocado on sourdough, blue swimmer crab omelette as well as eggs done any style served with
croquettes and the most tasty bacon just to name a few.

The room was very spacious. Large bathroom. Oh so comfortable bed. But ooooh what excited us most was the high-tech Japanese washlet.
It was all of the best quality including
the TV and we could cast Netflix and YouTube when we wanted.

Every single member of staff we encountered
spoke good English and always greeted us with
smiles and were very attentive at all times.
The uniforms were so different and hip.
Love, love, love the bathrobes!

We dined at Mott 32 and I would highly recommend it. Food was good and the cocktails divine. Shout out to Khun Did and his team.

Special mentions go out to Kathy at the front desk.
She checked me in, took care of my luggage as
the room wasn't ready, made some suggestions on
where to go and what to do in the meantime and
then arranged for my luggage to be sent up to the
room.
The Bell Team, Boom, Matthew and Henry. Whilst
waiting for my Grab, we were chatting and I
mentioned how much I loved a particular Thai
snack. Imagine my surprise when I came back to
my room to find a note from them and a bag of
those snacks. Now that is service of a whole new
level.
What a wonderful experience it has been. I totally
recommend The Standard Bangkok and can't
wait to visit again.

Thai hospitality - everyone goes above and beyond.

The room feels very cozy with a couch (Very luxury vintage/funky vibe)
the view is absolutely beautiful (city view)
sound canceling could be better, but it was okay.
Convenient authentic street food across the street
Convenient train station right in front of the hotel
Meeting rooms are comfortable
the tallest bar right beside the building at 314m above ground (free entry coupon upon check-in)
bathrooms are a wonderful touch to the room

Walking into this hotel felt like I was walking into a movie set for a Wes Anderson film set in Palm beach, the color pallet and interior design is 1960 mod.

The room (standard king) was very comfortable and the bathrooms was huge. The banquette and table in the room was perfect for times we were too lazy to go out for a meal and would order in.

The pool although not huge ( dont book here if you are a pool "size" queen) never got busy when we were there so size didnt matter. LOL

The gym facilities are open 24 hours and is perfect way to burn all the calories to make room for more especially in Bangkok. Food is also one of the strong points of this property, we tried two outlets and both were very good. Mott32 for dimsum and duck and The Parlor for some tasty Thai dishes.

Location is excellent as there is a BTS station right outside the hotel which makes travelling around the city easy and quick. The Bangkok traffic is back.

But what makes this hotel not the usual, is the staff. Thai hospitality is already amazing but the warmth and genuine service you get at the Standard is over and beyond that. They really try go that extra mile, in fact I saw the GM in the lobby one night handing out umbrellas to guests when there was a sudden downpour.

I think I found my new favorite hotel in Bangkok.

Big shout out to Tina for making our stay special.

We stayed at the standard for 2 nights at the end of c.2 week holiday around Thailand and were ultimately disappointed. This was the first time staying in a Standard hotel and had high expectations.

Pros
Hotel in general was stylish and modern
Very nice pool area with comfortable sun loungers
Extremely well equipped gym (one of the best hotel gyms I have used)
Comfortable beds (the best from our trip in Thailand)
Complimentary access to the Sky Beach rooftop

Cons
Check in - room was not ready when we originally arrived. When we went back to collect the key at 3pm the receptionist just gave us the key, didn't tell us room number or give us directions to room or provide any additional info
Check out - absolute chaos in reception at peak check out time. Reception area not big enough for size of hotel. Have to take your own bags down to concierge if you want them stored.
Breakfast - this was the biggest disappointment. Firstly we had no idea where breakfast was because the receptionist gave us no information at check in so we had to call guest services. Breakfast was meant to be unlimited al a carte however due to slow service we were only able to have 2 (extremely small) dishes before staff took last orders. This was ultimately the reason for rating this hotel 3* rather 4*... if you're going to charge so much breakfast the service needs to be much better.

Would not stay again due to the abundance of other 5* brand name hotels in Bangkok that were available for a lower price

Very new hotel, you can still smell the paintwork. Hotel room’s fittings is top class , you know a big sum of money was spent on the finishings. I appreciated the huge Samsung smart tv, the Axor bathroom complete with Toto washlet, the large wardrobes and even the Noritake cups at breakfast. However I feel it gets lost amid the gauche red paintwork that kinda seems very “off”. The overall feel is trendy but to the point of “cheap”. It’s a pity as you know it ain’t cheap by looking at their investments in the fittings. Ambient music blasting way too loud as well. They will put their prices up soon and maybe relook at some of the decor to improve it giving it a better touch of class. Oh , and the staffs’ attitude varies from friendly to simply nonchalant and rude - very strange. Training has to be improved. You never know which person is the staff anyway as everyone wears their own clothes - perhaps a name tag to set staff apart?

Room size is quite small for a 5 star hotel. Dont even have a proper writing desk. the TV is side to the Bed, so it is not a good design. The best of the room is the big whole piece of glass in front of bed. anyway , the view is swimming pool view and not so good view with the memorial..first time experience a 5 star hotel without bath tub, no sewing kit when been asked, no welcoming drinks and not even welcoming words in room TV and no welcoming fruit in room. But overall i would say the hotel staff provided extremely good service and response to customer. i stayed in many bangkok 5 star hotels like W bangkok, Hilton, Pullman, and i would hard to turn back again. The best of hotel is there is a free ticket to entry 78 floors of sky beach. However, they should develop more thing upthere, a real sky bar, more things to do, can also take chance to make money..a bit wasted. One last thing to say is, they forgot to clear my dustbin when doing daily room housekeeping and this is big mistake i would say eventhough the rubbish is not much in it. Overall 3.5 rating only.

The room was spacious. The bed was super comfyyyy!!!! TV is easily connected to devices, making casting Netflix, Spotify, and Youtube super convenient. The washlet installed to the room was a Japanese-Style.

Got a chance to visit the gym and I LOVE IT!! clean and new equipment. They provides classes you can join as well.

The room comes with breakfast. Every dish is delicious! highly recommended!

Special thanks to Kathy who has been such a great helper. She checked me in, gave a quick hotel tour, and shown me to my room. I requested a pillow and she brought it to me right away. She is friendly and has a great service mind!

Overall, great experience. would definitely stay here again in the future.

Decoration

Nice and trendy decoration. There is a full height mirror at entrance but lighting is not good and you cannot make up at that area . It will be better if a spot light is at the mirror. The sofa and chairs are not comfortable. You will feel that you are falling down

Staff are friendly.

The hotel assigned a concierge to us and told us we can message her when we need help. At around 10pm, we called housekeeping because we need one more set of towel, cups, slippers etc. We booked and paid for a corner king deluxe for 3 people but the room set up only provide for 2 people . No one answered the phone , so we message the concierge. No response at all. We expected that is a duty phone and will pass to other staff who is on duty. We kept calling housekeeping until someone answered the phone

Unfortunately, we did not receive any contact from the concierge during our stay, and as a result, we were unclear about what services were available to us.

Additionally, we found the selection of TV channels and movies to be quite limited. However, we were able to connect our phones to the TV and watch Netflix and YouTube, which was fortunate.

Food

For the breakfast, food is good and service ok. We ordered Thai Milk Tea at 10am and the waitress told us sold out . Thai tea is not something special but the restaurant didn’t make an effort to prepare more. Disappointed

Finally the city has a fresh yet very proper hotel with amazing design and engaging service. I won't say too much about the design cause you have to come, see, and experience it yourself. We stayed for four nights and tried all their restaurants including the new one, a Chinese restaurant which was officially launched during our stay (no we are not influencers!). Again, the design of each restaurant is beautiful and also very functional. But what made it much more special is the engaging service which was casual but genuinely warm and helpful. The food was faultless too! Ojo in particular is probably today's best modern restaurant in the city.

The first downside was the reception desk staff which looked nervous whenever we approach them, a total opposite of the restaurant staff. We arrived late (closer to 7pm) and the check-in took more than 30 minutes with back and forth question about booking confirmation, credit card, ID, etc. Thankfully there was JJ during the last 2 nights of our stay who was the only helpful person in the front office area.

The second downside is the access to the Sky Beach / observatory deck that's separate from the hotel though it is actually located in the same building. And due to different information we received from the unhelpful front office staff we missed the best sunset (the remaining days of our stay were rainy). The information on the website and in-room TV didn't help either cause you would think that the Sky Beach is actually accessible directly from the hotel elevator. The Sky Beach was also packed with noisy people who took pictures which ruined the cool vibe of the hotel.

Nevertheless, we will definitely comeback whenever we are in Bangkok again!
