My recent stay at The Siam in Bangkok was an extraordinary experience that seamlessly blended luxury and Thai cultural immersion. The hotel’s location on the banks of the Chao Phraya River offered breathtaking views and a serene escape from the city’s hustle and bustle. My room, with its traditional Thai decor and modern amenities, was a tranquil oasis. The infinity pool overlooking the river was a highlight of my stay. Dining at the hotel’s restaurant, Chon Thai, was a culinary journey that celebrated Thai flavors with an elegant twist. The Siam exceeded all my expectations, and I eagerly anticipate my next visit to this enchanting gem in Bangkok.

Bangkok is a bustling urban jungle, but if you want to unwind in a lovely colonial setting far from the chaos, this is the place! Location - it is not in the center of town, you will need to commute (either by boat or taxis), but what you get is tranquility away from the craziness of the city. Commute - there is a house boat that takes you down the river, however they are not too frequent and you need to plan and book in advance Rooms - Very spacious, very comfortable and I found the interior of the room quite ingenious. Service - wonderful and very attentive. Breakfast - amazing! Great quality and selection. Other comment - the only thing I wasn't keen on were the antiques which were displayed everywhere, I found them creepy. I have stayed in Bangkok many times however this is a very different experience and I really enjoyed and appreciated it! Such a calm and visually stunning hotel!!!

Response from Nick Downing, General Manager at The Siam
Responded 30 Jul 2023
Dear barbaran536 Thank you for rating us so highly following your recent experience with us. It's wonderful to hear you enjoyed so many features of the hotel including our Location, Private shuttle boat, rooms and breakfast. Of course, it's no secret that The Siam is far from a cookie cutter hotel and is known for the thousands of pieces of artworks, antiques and curios all from our owner's private collection which he has personally curated throughout the hotel. I am sorry if this isn't quite your style. However I do hope that the rest of the hotel is enough to draw you back to our home by the river in the future. Thank you again! Warm wishes Nick Downing General Manager.

Surprising in every way, this hotel proved to be a marvelous urban oasis that could keep you inspired for hours. Every corner of the property seemingly has a uniquely curated area to explore, from a 24hr vintage memorabilia store to listening to a classic vinyl record in the lounge....this property truly has it all. Guests should make the time to indulge in the property, something which we wish we budgeted more time for, and definitely enjoy the complimentary boat ride to the Icon Mall. The General Manager, and all the staff, were extremely welcoming and helpful when it came to every aspect of our stay.....to the extent that the GM personally provided me with a packed breakfast for my 5am flight.

I was solo travelling through Thailand for a week and stayed for three nights at The Siam. The quality of the rooms, facilities, service and food were nothing bar exceptional. Service: Upon arrival, I was introduced to my personal butler, Gub, who was very kind and incredibly professional. From helping me plan day trips via the hotel's free boat taxi to making reservations at restaurants, the execution of his work was meticulous and beyond any initial expectations I had. If you happen to sit anywhere for more than five minutes, the staff will bring over some array of complimentary drinks/food and some other items - When sat at the pool I was given a cold herbal drink, a decanter of cold water, a hand fan, sun cream and freshly cut melon! Room: The suite itself was extremely spacious, with high ceilings, was very well-decorated, and the bed was so wide, no matter which direction you lay down your feet wouldn't be hanging off! The pictures don't really do the rooms justice - They're even better in person. The room was cleaned every morning and was tidied up while I stepped out for a couple of hours so was always nice to come back to a fresh bed and towels at any point in the day. The only point for improvement I would have is that because it can get incredibly hot/humid in Bangkok, it would be nice to have some ice-cold water in the room. At the moment, there are a number of bottles around the room, which are regularly refilled, but because they're left out, it's more room-temperature water (and the same goes for any cold water coming out of the taps). Having a bottle or two kept in the fridge from the outset would be more refreshing. Facilities and Food: I ate at both of the restaurants (serving Thai and Western food) and again, pretty faultless - The service was quick, the food was fresh and flavourful and wasn't overpriced either (obviously a lot more expensive than street food but compared to the UK, a bit cheaper than côte prices). The rest of the hotel facilities are beautifully designed and spotless. The breakfast options were pretty varied with a choice of both Thai and more traditional Western options, and you were able to order multiple items so is definitely worth filling up with breakfast before heading out for the day. I also opted for three spa treatments and again, the quality was brilliant, from greeting you at the staircase to the ginger tea and passionfruit yoghurt they bring you at the end and of course the treatments themselves, it was very relaxing and clearly of high quality. Overall, I would recommend The Siam to anyone considering staying in Bangkok and would love to stay there again myself!

It was a pleasure to meet you briefly on your day of departure and I hope the rest of your journey is filled with great memories. In the meantime, I am delighted to hear our service, accommodation, restaurants and spa all impressed. You have raised a good point regarding water in the fridge and I am already discussing ways to make this happen. Thank you for your advice. I truly hope we have the opportunity to welcome you back to The Siam one day. Thanks again and warm wishes from Khun Gub, myself and The Siam family, Nick Downing General Manager

We have never experienced a hotel like this before. It is hard to explain because it is hard to compare to anywhere else. The room we stayed in made us gasp as we entered. It was huge and luxurious. And fun. As guests, there were plenty of extra areas to explore - the vinyl room, the library, the racing room, etc.. The attention to detail is extraordinary. The Siam has a boat that takes you down the river to any site (or sight) you want to go to. The staff were wonderful. Because of a very early flight out of Bangkok, we had to (quietly) check out at 4am. When we opened our door, there were two people waiting outside to take out bags!

Nick and his team run an extraordinary experience - could not be more genuine nor more authentic - you know when people truly care. Sumet as our Guest Relations was absolutely superb with his level of attentiveness. The pool is great for the kids to play around and the boat that takes you to the city is the perfect bridge between a calm BKK and the busier one. Thank you all!

WHOA, there’s not enough space on this website to express how amazing The Siam is! If you’re a traveler who loves picture-esque spaces, feeds off superb food and impeccable service - you must try The Siam next time you’re in Bangkok. I was a little sticker shocked by the initial pricing compared to other accommodations in Bangkok, but after spending nine nights at The Siam Hotel, I can tell you that it was worth every penny and we decided we will definitely be coming back. There are so many benefits that come with The Siam on top of it being a gorgeous property: free snacks and drinks in the room, fresh fruits delivered daily, an incredible included breakfast, butler service and a hotel boat that will take you up and down the river to avoid the notorious Bangkok traffic. All of these plus pluses felt so well-thought out and intentional. We split our time between a courtyard pool villa and the riverside pool villa. These villas are amazingly designed. You walk into a private courtyard complete with a daybed, table for two perfect for reading and then (gasp) a private pool! With the record heat and humidity in Bangkok, it was nice to be able to dip in and out at all times of the day. We even spent full days in our villa with our speaker pumping, reading in the pool while my hubby smoked a cigar. This was a dream! Oh and if you want privacy and sun, you can go upstairs to your own villa deck. But warning, the sun/heat is no joke in Thailand this time of year. The room itself was stunning and spacious. There was a small living space for sitting and watching TV, a large king sized bed that was raised for extra privacy, a walk in closet with lots of drawers and storage space, a wardrobe room to get ready in with natural sunlight shining in, a large bathroom with two vanities, a huge jacuzzi to soak and a stand up shower. Everything felt so roomy, yet comfortable. The high ceilings and beautiful Thai/antique decor all added to the wow factor. Again, every detail felt really strategic on what a well-traveled couple would want in Thailand. Space, storage, privacy… and a strong AC! But really, let’s dive into the amenities. The property has so much detail and character we literally wandered around and discovered things for days. A Vinyl room where you could play classic vinyl records, a library with tons of historic artifacts, a screening room to watch movies, a gym with a muy thai boxing ring and an uber luxury spa with a free steam and sauna room we took advantage of. Not to mention the view of the river by the infinity pool that always included watermelon pops and ice cool beverages. And who doesn’t love free snacks and drinks in a hotel room? There were daily replenishments of curry banana chips, which my husband devoured, Kit Kats, nuts and an array of water, sparkling water and soda. All at your disposal! And yes, they restock daily. Anything non-alcoholic was up for grabs and included. The fresh fruit delivered daily to your room was one of my favorite perks since I can eat fruits 24/7. They had locally sourced guava, mango, papaya and dragonfruit available with a plate/knife/fork set in our room for your snacking pleasure. And the best part is when the butler staff found out how much I enjoyed guava, they had the house keeper leave me extras to have on hand to enjoy in the afternoons. Wow oh wow, the breakfast menu had us stuffed and happy every morning. From Western benedicts to traditional Thai options, we tried every single thing. No joke! We literally tried every drink and food item available on the menu… twice! We fell in love with Khao Niew Moo Yang and Guoy Teow Talay from the Thai menu and the Tiger Prawn Hash and Wilted Baby Spinach from the Western menu. I was so impressed that they remembered how much I loved guava and mango, and would have freshly cut guava and mangoes ready for me after I sat down, without even asking. On the last few days, there wasn’t any guava available, but one of the servers, Takhob, went out and found a single guava from the housekeeping team that he had cut and served to me. I was in awe by that gesture of kindness and service! It’s incredible that The Siam has curated such a hearty plethora of options for guests as a complimentary add on. The house boat is such a smart touch! Your butler will give you the boat schedule and you simply meet at the dock. Once guests are loaded on with a bon voyage drink in hand, you’re off! Racing up the river with no traffic is a Bangkok dream. The boat drivers will take you to the closest pier to whatever destination you’re going to. We caught the boat daily and had them drop us off at Steve’s Cafe, a restaurant recommended by our butler - the wait staff met us at the pier, walked us to our table, and the boat drivers were waiting back at the pier a few minutes after we whatsapped the hotel. Breeze! We also caught the boat to Chinatown, the Flower Market, Icon Siam and River City. It took the longest to get to Icon Siam, which was a 20 minute, beautiful river ride. I can’t stress how easy it is to zip along the river and avoid traffic. We caught a taxi and motorbike to a thai spa since it was off the river and boy, what a different experience that was! Use the boat, it’s free for guests and very convenient. Last but not least, the butler service. OMG, this was the best experience ever!! We booked our trip to Bangkok spontaneously after our pup passed away. We had no itinerary and didn’t do a lot of research beforehand to prep an itinerary. With our butler Gub, that was no problem. Gub was available for us around the clock via WhatsApp, always providing us with maps, schedules and suggestions for the day. He saw us taking photos on property and noticed how hot and sweaty I was! A few minutes later, he appeared with two refreshing drinks to make sure we stayed cool and hydrated. He also knew on our final day, we were at the floating market for hours and ready to get back to the villa. He took the initiative to draw us a bath to relax before dinner. He accommodated all of my requests and exceeded all of my expectations - he mapped out specifc stores for us, called in a shoe request for me, had my sunglasses repaired without me having to leave property and my all time favorite thing is that he worked with the hotel manager to help me take home a pillow that fit perfectly under my neck when I slept. On Gub’s days off, we got to work closely with Sumet. He’d pop up with croissants at the pool, come to say hi at breakfast with a morning hug, wave us off at the pier and help call us a motorbike to go to a Thai spa (yes, he told me not to be afraid and to hold on tight!) and a taxi on our final day (and paid for our fare!!) to the market. But the thing that stands out is when Bryson asked if he could recommend any cigar shops at the Icon Siam. Since there are none, he worked with a cigar shop to 1) get the cigars Bryson wanted and 2) have it delivered to the hotel within an HOUR! Bryson was speechless. Everything at The Siam was top notch and a welcome respite from the busy city. You will leave feeling rejuvenated, pampered and lucky you stayed in the private oasis that The Siam is. And even better was that we felt we left Bangkok with new lifelong friends.

I stayed at The Siam for 3 nights with my mom in June 2023. It was truly a 5-star experience in all aspects. Besides the amazing hotel facilities (and rooms), the two butlers Gub and Sumet were extremely helpful and service-minded (among other things they helped us with recommendations, restaurant bookings and transport). Note that the hotel has a beautiful shuttle boat that can take you to any destination along the river, which is perfect, as you avoid heavy Bangkok traffic and see the city from the water. I can only give the warmest recommendations for this hotel, and ilI will definitely come back!
