We booked this hotel through our travel agent back home and we weren’t disappointed at all. The rooms and amenities are a bit old but are very comfortable and the hotel location is perfect. With about 60B you can grab a taxi and find yourself in the heart of Bangkok or if you don’t want to go really far you...

Nice clean hotel, great service and good value for money. Breakfast provided everyday with a good range of choices. Room was bigger than we expected. Great for family or individual. In the heart of China Town. The Lavendar Spa in the hotel is a must! The best massage I have ever had and great value.

This is the 3rd time stayed at this hotel. Although the hotel is at first glance in need of a bit of an upgrade, the staff, service and breakfasts certainly make up for this shortcoming. The position of this hotel is great, just a short walk to the ferry station which puts you in reach of most significant sites for...

Had a 3 night stay in the GCP in February on our way to Phuket.. Location of the hotel is just superb, and we were only sorry to have missed the New Year celebrations as the decorations were just fantastic. Chinatown really comes alive at night, and we loved the hustle and bustle of the streets, just crammed with food...

vicinity - spent 3 nights during chinese new year at this hotel. as it was CNY, there was a long stretch of night bazaar right in front of the streets of the hotel exit which lasted for two days (1st and 2nd day of CNY) there were also plenty of restaurants alongside to choose from. streets than were filled with...

Great location but rooms are dated and hotel overall needs a makeover. The pool area is sooooooooo tiny with 4 lay beds for the entire 200+ rooms they have. Service is good as there were a number of things wrong with the room (broken a/c, no hair dryer etc) and they came to fix it right away. Breakfast is okay...

My husband and I booked a room here last minute on Christmas Eve as we decided to come into Bangkok from the countryside. We chose the GCP for its location alone. We wanted to tour Chinatown. We were given a 19th floor room with spectacular views of Bangkok that, quite frankly, made up for everything else. The staff was amazingly...

GCP was in the busied and hardest part of Bangkok to get to. So called family suite was a room with four beds crammed into it. Shower flooded bathroom each timed used. Room very tired and run down. Pool a joke. On a floor accessed through room of overhead pipes. Small and only one jet working in spa. Food expensive...

Unless you need to stay in Chinatown, the Grand China Princess is OK. Its about 1km walk to the Metro underground train, but only about 10 minute walk to the river ferry. Rooms are OK but nothing flash. Pool was hard to get to.

Staying in Chinatown / Yaowarat

Neighbourhood Profile
Chinatown / Yaowarat
Better known as 'Yaowarat' among locals, Chinatown is Bangkok's bustling district that never sleeps. During the day, the main street and its small alleyways are filled with a vibrant mix of colours, scents and flavours coming from the roadside restaurants and all-day markets. The real action, however, happens after sunset. Surrounded by neon lights, Thais and tourists alike flock here around dinnertime to feast on some of the best street food in town. Escape the chaos by venturing a little further from the main road and discover hidden shrines, friendly locals and daily life in its purest form.
