Detailed Reviews
We spent a night here recently. Recommended by a friend who visits Bangkok on business, the Sukhothai is quite the haven, in contrast to the more hectic, tourist driven properties on the river.
We were very lucky to be upgraded to a suite on arrival. It had a bathroom to die for, with 2 separate loos. Each was fitted with Japanese style electric washers and driers for your undercarriage, a singular revelation for those not previously familiar with such sophistication.
The public areas are quiet and relaxing, and the gardens lovely.
The swimming pool is a bona fide 25 metre job in which you can do lengths. It has generous surrounds with numerous loungers and a poolside bar/restaurant.
The gym is enormous, with all the usual bells and whistles.
We had dinner at La Scala which is refined but inevitably expensive. The bill, when it came, seemed surprisingly reasonable, a fact on which we were commenting as we left.
Ten minutes later they phoned the room to say that they'd forgotten to include the bottle of 2017 Cotes du Rhone! (£40)
The breakfast spread is one of the most extensive I can recall anywhere.
Highly recommended.

The Sukhothai Bkk has always been our top choice hotel for the past three decades. Yes, the hotel is celebrating it's 30th Anniversary this year. While some of the earlier staff have retired or moved on, the warm hospitality culture remains intact. It has been 2.5 years since our last visit due to travel restrictions and we were thrilled that we can visit this piece of tranquility in the heart of the city. We booked a total of 6 nights and time just passed too quickly. We were warmly welcomed by all the familiar friendly faces from GM Khun Alex and Room Manager Khun Kaewta. We managed to get a good deal which includes room upgrade with daily breakfast and 1,000THB daily dining credit. We were further upgraded to the Executive Suite overlooking the beautiful gardens. This time round, I didn't stay at the Club Wing where they provide Bottega Venetta toiletries. Nevertheless, at the Main Wing, to our delight, they provide Panpuri toiletries. At The Sukhothai, the guests are the centre of attention and the hotel goes all the way out to please the guests. Everyday the housekeeper will replenish a new platter of assorted fruits ranging from apples, pears, oranges, bananas and dragon fruits. The main highlight will be the 6 pieces of chocolate truffles that comes along with and not to mention the range of complementary specialty tea leaves. The breakfast is always at its best at The Colonnade. Despite that the occupancy rate is not high during our stay, the hotel doesn't scrooge on and ensuring that the guests are spoilt with choices. The spread is just incredible serving very freshly cooked meals and offering a huge variety of cuisine from American, Japanese, Thai, and Chinese. Not to mention the selection of cold cuts, cheeses and fruit variety is amazing and they have also added a new line of honey (Let It BEE) with 8 different flavours. Even the most fussy guest will find something to fill his/her stomach. Khun Anchi and her team take very good care of the guests, constantly going around clearing the plates, checking if the beverages are still warm. At the poolside, we met the affably Khun Bird where he was full of sunshine and you could sense the happiness within him taking pride in enjoying his work. We had the chance to visit La Scala as well and met Khun Joy. Unfortunately, we weren't too impress with the revamped menu as it was more of French rather than traditional Italian that we are used to. Nonetheless, we enjoyed the crispy pizza very much and delighted that it wasn't taken off the menu. Sadly, the Celadon and Thimin were still not in operation during our visit as I missed the authentic Thai cuisine at the Celadon and the Golden Pandan Cake at Thimin. The six nights came and gone and we can only look forward to our next trip and it will definitely still be The Sukhothai Bangkok. Looking forward to seeing all the warm and friendly faces.

Stayed in Sukhothai Bangkok after a beach holiday in Phuket. The moment the limo entered the driveway from the busy Bangkok street, I can feel an air of elegance and tranquility of this property.
The room is on 4th floor overlooking the pond. Room is conservatively designed and it aged well with characters. Nothing fancy, no see-through bathroom, no gilded columns, I like the down to earth, yet Thai elegant design.
Had meals in both the Thai and Italian restaurants and the buffet breakfast cafe place and also had happy hour at the bar. Bit disappointed about the English proficiency of the staff at the Italian restaurant and the wine I had in the bar already out of stock at the restaurant just after 1 day I had it at the bar. All food is scrumptious.
The best part is the swimming pool, it is so nicely designed that the sliding depth on each end makes it hard for children to come to the pool to splash and I like the pool to be literally adult only. There are always sun beds available and in fact the hotel feels like an exclusive club and everything just moves at a very leisure rate, no rush in life that's I like.
I seldom go out except one night and there is nothing much nearby except embassies. When I go out to shopping I use Grab and it is very convenient. No need to walk to catch MRT and change to Skytrain under the heat.
Highly highly recommended if you are not after hotels that concentrates only on superficial glitz and glamour, don't stay there if you want to party after dark.

The welcome at the hotel was just lovely - awesome Thai hospitality with a big smile. We were staying in a Club Room. The Club Rooms are in a separate wing to the main hotel. Our room had a big balcony which overlooked the pool area. The room was very spacious, as was the balcony which was furnished with a huge day bed and table & chairs. The bathroom was also very generous in size with a large separate shower, closed toilet room, twin basins and a bath. Amenities were good and replenished when required.
Breakfast in the lounge was certainly adequate. There was an egg menu as well as a good choice of food on the buffet tables. Breakfast in the main restaurant had much more choice should you wish to dine there instead.
Cocktails & canapes in the lounge in the evening were a welcome end to the day. The staff were always friendly and the choice of drinks and food (a different theme each day) were good.
I headed off to the spa for a manicure & pedicure, and have to say, whilst the treatment was good, there was no nail varnish included - actually, there was no nail varnish to be had? That was definitely a first for me. That option has always been included at any spa I have visited.
We ate at the main restaurant - breakfast and Sunday Brunch. The Sunday Brunch is a stand out. So much to pick from and a jazz band in the corner provided good entertainment. Highly recommend. The poolside restaurant was a good spot for lunch.
The Sukhothai is a lovely quiet property but you really need to only be outside the hotel during off peak traffic. It can be a nightmare getting to and from the hotel in peak hour traffic. Some taxis refused to even venture there.
We would definitely stay here again and send a special shout out to Gift, Tar, Try and Toom for service above and beyond.

We have been staying at the Sukhothai many times over the past years, but we eventually started exploring other options, as the hotel was getting rather tired.
During our last visit to Bangkok, we decided to give the Sukhothai another chance, and it was a wonderful hotel experience.
We stayed in a Club Suite, which we absolutely loved due to its beautiful design, comfort, high ceilings and practicality. Furthermore, it is was completely quiet with absolutely no traffic noise.
The Club lounge was huge, peaceful, very pleasant staff, and provided a nice breakfast experience in quiet surroundings (very different from the main breakfast place). We didn't have the opportunity to try the evening canapé service, but the afternoon tea was rather disappointing.
The renovated pool area is gorgeous, and it is definitely our favourite hotel pool in central Bangkok. Apart from the surrounding buildings, it feels like a resort.
Despite its basement location, the new gym is absolutely stunning. A lot of money must have been invested to bring it up to this very high standard. One of the best hotel gyms that we have encountered.
Overall, it was a fantastic hotel experience, and the Sukhothai has regained its position as our favourite Bangkok hotel.

We stayed at the newly renovated club room during the weekend for staycation. The one and only hotel that I feel a "real" vacation in the city due to the resort style, feel like staying in the forest, very green and lively. You can even hear the bird singing in the early morning at courtyard.
Comparing to other 5 star or luxury in CBD, most of them are in the high rise building, so not really feel relaxing in Bangkok, more like just change a condo room. But here, it feels like staying in kao yai or other mountain luxury resort.
The swimming pool is definitely the best in the city, even though not the sky view, but the great size is wonderful for a swimming lover, you can really swim instead just having IG photos.
Staffs are very welcoming and friendly and the chocolate buffet is AMAZING!! Tons of different flavor and % dark chocolate, not too sweet and taste make me high lol.
The same price I got in kaoyai is only a normal room with under average breakfast and service, but in here the price includes very tasty breakfast buffet, club benefit and food credit, and no need to suffer for the tiring driving and bad traffic to other province. Definitely come back <3

After we have renewed our member package for another year, unfortunately the hotel was temporarily closed due to government order relating to Covid19. However, thanks Tukta who have been keep updating situation to us , even in the period of lock- down, and informed us immediately when the hotel reopens. We then are not hesitate to book our nights. This time, the rooms in the main building , which we have stayed every year, have not yet been in use but we have been upgraded to stay at Club Wings which is next to the swimming pool. So, it was our first time here with impressive experience, front staff ( Gift, Jenny, Try, Kong, and Mindy) are very friendly, well informed and helpful in every aspects of our stay, not only traditional "front staff duty", they did more , some even help serving breakfast to us
Breakfast are not the same as we have experienced full buffet at Celadon , it was mini buffet line (see pic) but a wide variety of breakfast in menu which we can ordered and fill it up . We love coffee set which served in wood tray decorated with flower and Thai fresh exotic plants. It is very creative. The pancake made to order is also amazing designed and decorated with fresh berry. (see pic) Also thanks F&B team (Botan, Niroot, Cheetah, DJ for example) who always provide excellent service with high attention to detail.
We strongly hope this impressive re-opening of the sukothai could last long and the above standard service could well maintained .

We travel to Bangkok often and usually stay at the neighbouring Banyan Tree Club room. We decided to try the adjacent Sukhothai Club room this trip and were pleasantly surprised.
The Sukhothai has a calmer and quieter atmosphere with less crowded amenities (perfect for couples or business guests). The outdoor pool and external areas are definitely the winner - large ground level outdoor pool and ample seating, attentive staff, meals and drinks by the pool, etc.
The Club room is well appointed with walk-in-robe, separate WC room (with Toto toilet), shower room, separate double basin and bath. Bedroom/living area is large enough to have guests over for drinks overlooking the pool. The room was tidy and spotlessly clean (impressive given the amount old mirrored surfaces).
We arrived early morning from Europe and were warmly welcomed by the staff at the Club room. They even arranged an early check in for us at 9am which was greatly appreciated.
We will definitely stay at the Sukhothai next time we are in Bangkok. Big thanks to the staff and a management of the Sukhothai!

Got to stay in the new wing, as the hotel was recently re-opened. The room was generously proportioned, with very elegant design. Equally impressive was the swimming pool area, with all-white flowering plants in the garden matching with the green tiles of the pool. Surprisingly large gym, with an onsen-sauna suite attached. Dinner at La Scala was not that great; breakfast on the Club Floor was very nice. Great staff service throughout.

Hi, sorry for my late reply. As far I know, I don't think that this hotel is ALSQ. Also, I believe the nearest MRT station is Lumpini station and this should be about 10 mins walk from the hotel :)
Yes, there are Club Rooms in the new wing as well as we stay there once last year. This new building is just beside the swimming pool and has the executive lounge on the same building.
Try the champagne buffet on Sundays too - opulence is an understatement. Book in advance though
We experienced morning till about 5pm sunlight by the pool in april...
