I have been travelling to Thailand for over 35 years and think that the Thai hospitality is one of the best in the world. The Sukhothai is a nice hotel but is soulless. The staff is there but not really there. It is quite well maintained. I found the food mediocre. Especially the Italian restaurant where even a simple pizza...

Stayed here for business. Whilst the look & service is ok; mosquitos in the room, likely due to all the water around, room & corridor are damp, bar food is extremely expensive, not much to do around. Worst of all; hardly any TV channels (local, HBO and sport channels; really no champions league whilst football is so popular in Thailand...

It was just a perfect few days... Fantastic room with perfect size, bathroom, bedding, lay out etc. We tried most of the F&B outlets: breakfast buffet, lunch at the Italian by the pool (Crunchy pizza is just to die for...), Zuk bar for aperitif... and Sunday brunch is simply one of the best in town. Not to say the best....

The Sukhotai is one of Bangkok’s most prominent hotels. Mentioning its name to a taxi driver was met with respect – “this is a six-star hotel; you will enjoy it”. Our expectations were understandably high, so the experience is measured compared to them. The hotel is in a fancy neighborhood, with embassies and top hotels nearby. Despite being located next...

The hotel is wonderful and like a good friend it is hard to see her age. I've stayed here for years and will be back again, but when I entered to lobby this time, I had a bit of regret as I realized we have both gotten older in the years that we've been acquainted. I'm afraid it is time...

The hotel is very nice and service was great. It is located in the middle of the busy city but you don't feel like it when you are at the hotel. The downside was that we were in a room far from the elevator in which you had to go though an unconditioned humid hallway which had a very distinct...

There are lots of great 5 star hotels in Bangkok. We needed a place that worked for a three year old boy. We didn't want a high rise and we didn't want somewhere where his noise would disturb others around the pool. The Sukhothai worked really well for us. The rooms were big. The staff were very tolerant. The pool...

We began our trip in Bangkok and spent eight nights at the Sukhothai to primarily rest and adjust to the 9 hour time change. This is definitely my favorite hotel in Bangkok. The buffet breakfast is outstanding with so many different selections. The spa is first class and the pool was our favorite place in the afternoons for late lunch...

Sukhothai Bangkok is in the heart of Bangkok, Sathorn. It's not very close to BTS or Metro so dependence on the famous Bangkok traffic is quite high. The property itself is steeped in Thai culture and offers avenues for relaxation and distraction. It's also a bit old but well-maintained. I got a free upgrade to a suite with large bedroom,...

Staying in Sathorn

Neighbourhood Profile
Sathorn
Sathorn is Bangkok’s central business district, but here you’ll find much more than international banks and suited-up office workers. Take a stroll along the small alleys between the skyscrapers and you’ll find yourself among Bangkokians living life at a much slower pace. Feast on fantastic Thai food which you can find in the town-house restaurants, office food courts and sidewalk food stalls spread all over the area, especially around St. Louis Hospital. A visit to Sathorn is not complete without a drink at one of the glitzy sky bars perched atop its skyscrapers.
