We were quite disappointed by our stay at the Shangri-la in Bangkok. Part of the staff was great then the other part was not very helpful or nice... The hotel is quite old and the rooms are outdated... People are crammed around the pool...not very pleasant... We got a late check out, I guess that's one good thing.

Great location--right on the river. Request a river view room--so worth it! Spacious room. Beautiful, clean. Outstanding pool with food and drink service at your chair. Extremely helpful valet. However, the staff took every opportunity to upsell. They suggested only their restaurants. We asked about the easiest way to take a boat to the Grand Palace and they recommended a...

We just got back from 4 nights at this hotel staying in the Krungthep wing on the 11th floor with a balcony overlooking the river . The hotel is an oasis from the bustling streets outside . Staff are genuinely caring and hospitable . We made use of the cocktails and canapés every evening which was lovely . We were...

We stayed at Shangri-La Horizon Club level Feb 15th - 17th and then the Krungthep wing (Room 653) the night of the 23rd. In our opinion, the Shangri-La side entrance is much more grande and has better shopping. Visit Alibaba for some fabulous rugs and silk/cashmere scarfs. While the Krungthep Wing is lovely, it feels older and a bit outdated....

The Krungthep wing at Shangri La is an ideal way to spend your time in the hustle and bustle of Bangkok. We have visited many times and this time was no different. The service is excellent from Reception, through housekeeping to the individuals serving in the lounge. Special mention to Aoi in the lounge who made our stay an exceptional...

The Shangri-La Hotel, Bangkok is the most excellent 5 star hotel there exists. The hotel is gorgeous in every way and of the finest class. We splurged on a Executive room and really enjoyed the benefits, like the complimentary drinks and variety of snacks in the evenings at the Executive lounge. The executive room was out of this world and...

Staying in Silom

Neighbourhood Profile
Silom
Despite the lack of any major tourist attractions, this lively neighborhood is a favorite of many. Whether it's the (somewhat naughty) nightlife of Soi Patpong, the various handicraft night markets or the plethora of dining options that tickle your fancy, a night out in Silom is a must on every itinerary. It's worth a stop during daytime, too: join office workers on a quest to tasty street food during lunch and shop at Silom Complex for a great mix of Thai and international stores. After a day of strolling around the congested sidewalks, a visit to Silom's Lumphini Park, Bangkok's answer to NYC's Central Park, is a welcome change of scenery.
