The Rever View Guest House shares an interesting location and view on a bend of the River Chaopraya, a short distance from several major hotels (Sheraton, Mandarin Oriental and Peninsula, on the Thonburi side). The hotel is located amidst a historic Chinese community called Talad Noi, just off Charoen Krueng Road (MRT to Hua Lamphong), near Chinatown, and offers reasonably-priced...

Great little hotel with friendly staff and close to Jonkers. The accommodation is basic but comfortable and very clean! Excellent for budget travellers. There is also river top guest house and river view cafe all owned by the same people. The cafe is fantastic.

This was our final hotel on our recent trip to Thailand. One on my travelling companions had stayed here previously and was very disappointed in its decline. The problems started with check in. Although the booking had been made months in advance when we arrived the rooms were not available one of party had to move to an inferior room....

Despite booking and paying direct online, these guys managed to lose our three room booking - my knowing the hotel owner was all that saved us here, but it got worse.... The fridge never worked (despite mentioning twice), a/c was barely functional, the wasp-infested bar/restaurant closes (abruptly) at 23:00, the room toilet leaks onto the shower room floor. Breakfast is...

Had a talk with my dad earlier today and he strongly recommended the River View :-) And it's a "must" if you're in the area around the southern part of China Town or Train Station It's just 10 minutes walk and worth it <3 The staff is SO nice and speaks GOOD English and the Pineapple Shake is fantastic ;-)

A difficult place to review because it has so many contrasting features. The pluses are its location on a bend of the Chao Praya, and easy ( 10 min walk ) accessibility to the train station, subway and river ferries. It has a restaurant with great food at standard ' backpacker' prices and an awesome ambience and views to compare...

I went to this guesthouse exclusively for the rooftop bar, as indicated by Lonely Planet, and was not disappointed! The rooftop bar has a very chill vibe, nice decoration, and no dress code. The view of the Chao Praya river is amazing, specially with a cold beer in your hand to fight the Bangkok heat. The staff was super friendly...

We had the cheapest room, so we weren't surprised to see the condition of the room. Dirty walls and floor. Ok for sleep but nothing more. We stayed in 3 and 1/2 floor so we joked about being Harry Potter living under the stairway. Good but pricey restaurant with breathtaking view over the river. Harbours are close by and 7/11...

We stayed here for 2 nights while passing through Bangkok. It was ok but we felt a little overpriced compared to other hotels we've had in Bangkok. Room: very large, had a good fridge and drinking water freely available. However, we paid 900 baht per night, and there was no AC, only fan, which did not offer enough relief from...

The restaurant of River View Guest House has a spectacular view. You dont have to be a guest to eat there. Take the elevator to the 8th floor and be amazed by the spectacular view of the Chao Phraya river as it bends is way trough Bangkok. The food served is delicious and very very affordable. The guesthouse itself is...

Staying in Chinatown / Yaowarat

Neighbourhood Profile
Chinatown / Yaowarat
Better known as 'Yaowarat' among locals, Chinatown is Bangkok's bustling district that never sleeps. During the day, the main street and its small alleyways are filled with a vibrant mix of colours, scents and flavours coming from the roadside restaurants and all-day markets. The real action, however, happens after sunset. Surrounded by neon lights, Thais and tourists alike flock here around dinnertime to feast on some of the best street food in town. Escape the chaos by venturing a little further from the main road and discover hidden shrines, friendly locals and daily life in its purest form.
