Chakrabongse Villas is a really luxurious boutique hotel. We were guests here for 3 nights in April, and we wanted for nothing. We were offered a welcome cocktail when we arrived late in the evening, and our villa was traditional Thai style, and it was well appointed, clean and cool. We had a lovely private balcony overlooking the garden, with...

Dear BendigoRobin, Thank you for your lovely review. It is truly a pleasure to read that you were pleased with the service rendered by my colleagues during your stay with us by the River of Kings and that our pleasant grounds and flowery garden as well as the delightful and soulful old traditional dinner have impressed you. Chakrabongse Villas is very different to your everyday boutique hotel. I have been a guest at Chakrabongse for 12 years on at least 40 occasions. Here your privacy is respected and preserved and you do not have to deal with the typical petty tourists that you find in all the large hotels. You will hardly ever see another guest since...

Worth the extra money! AND We got a free upgrade. Beautiful Resort on the river that is a stark contrast to the busy, bustling, 'aeromatic' Bangkok streets! Right across the street from Wat Pho and a 15 minute walk to the Grand Palace. Perfect stay for our 2 days in Bangkok!!! Also served us a delicious breakfast😃

So I looked online at availability and saw they had a room when I wanted. I was staying at another hotel relatively nearby and decided to take a look at this place before booking. I walked in, looking for someone at reception, which was empty. I walked further, trying to find someone, and encountered a guy working at the rear...

Dear Sir, We are sorry that we could not show you a room on that morning as the housekeeping teams were in the process of serving breakfasts and preparing to make up the rooms. We would like to organise a convenient time for you when we have an available room made up. We regret that you were not invited to...

Hidden behind a gate is this former palace that was built in 1908 and now serves as a small hotel and a restaurant. From the busy street you unexpectedly enter into an oasis of calm, a park garden with pavilions. The restaurant is directly on the river. There is only a fixed menu available, which changes day by day. Seated...

Secluded behind a nondescript door lay the ancient palace grounds of Chakrabongse. Once you step inside you are out of the beaten tourist paths of the surrounding Grand Place and nearby temples. Each of the 6 unique "rooms" has its special features. Our Thai house overlooked the main courtyard leading to the river. A lot of space and a generous...

This is simply an oasis, tucked behind gates in a garden setting on the property of a member of the extended royal family. We felt that we were treated like royalty ourselves by Atom and Ohm. They were both so kind and helpful. The property has a resplendent landscaping of fountains, a long trellised archway with potted orchids that leads...

This year I turned 60 and decided on a holiday in Thailand, of course I had to include Bangkok. I found this amazing small characterful place not far from the Royal Palace and Wat Pho. The staff are the most helpful I have come across on the holiday. The room is lovely, Moroccan in style, the Mali room, like home...

We absolutely loved this place it's so beautiful relaxing boutique villas with magical gardens in the middle of a busy area of Bangkok. Once inside the grounds it's so quiet and private and just wonderful. Staff are very helpful and the manager Mr Omh is a great wealth of knowledge. Breakfast was yummy and a great start for the day....

Once you enter through the gates, a fairytale world emerges. Around every corner another surprise awaits, orchards by our front gate, or kittens sleeping under the bench, the beautiful sunroom. The commissioned pictures are very accurate. My daughter feel in love with mangosteen fruits, first time we tasted them! Ask Ms. Atom (excellent English) to open the book store for...

Staying in Banglamphu

Neighbourhood Profile
Banglamphu
While you’ll see skyscrapers in most parts of Bangkok, it’s the gilded roofs of ancient pagodas that adorn the skyline of Banglamphu, the city’s historical and most touristic district. Hordes of tourists flock to this area to tick quite a few must-see attractions off their to-do list, with the Grand Palace being the most spectacular of them all. Banglamphu is also home to Bangkok’s infamous tourist ghetto, centered around Khao San Road. Visit at night to feast on road-side pad thai, cheap beers and if you’re up for it, some dancing fueled by buckets of Thai whiskey.
