Arriving at the Shanghai Mansion was like stepping back in time to a prewar Chinese merchant's home. We were greeted with cold drinks & refreshing washcloths.A fish pond, large atrium, & secluded seating areas add to the atmosphere. The breakfast room is like no other, full of Chinese artifacts & furniture. Breakfast offered many choices including wonderful omelets. The free...

Wonderful Boutique Hotel with an Aura of past. Very ethnic room decor and every item in room is antique and classy. Place for the lovers and the Honeymoon suit is the ONE. Located in the China Town, the haven for foodies.

We loved our stay at Shanghai Mansion first when we arrived in Bangkok and then for two nights before flying back to France. A beautiful hotel in Chinatown which we loved ( the atmosphere, the food, the area etc ). What a brilliant hotel, location was superb, rooms massive and clean, breakfast really good, public areas lovely to be in. Value for money was excellent. Visit the red or green street food sellers in the evening just along the road, sensational food and experience.

We loved our stay at Shanghai Mansion. Locating in bustling Chinatown, Shaghai Mansion offers a unique opportunity of feeling like a local in this very incredible area of Bangkok with access to exotic street food and amazing local restaurants such as T&K Seafood right around the corner. The hotel decor inspired in Chinese Shaghai of 1920-1930 is delightful, exotic, romantic,...

We stayed here for three nights .This is a really unique hotel .The style is so different (imperial China). We kept finding nooks and crannies and artwork throughout the hotel -there are little treasures everywhere. The twin room was quite small but adequate .The beds extremely comfortable and great bathroom . No verandahs or windows took getting used to but the...

We as a party of four grownups were delighted to arrive at the Shanghai Mansion and find that we had been upgraded to superior rooms. I had asked for quiet rooms initially. We were checked in most efficiently and quickly. Our rooms (as per the entire hotel ) were decorated in retro 1920s/1930s Chinese Shangai style which was something different...

Staying in Chinatown / Yaowarat

Neighbourhood Profile
Chinatown / Yaowarat
Better known as 'Yaowarat' among locals, Chinatown is Bangkok's bustling district that never sleeps. During the day, the main street and its small alleyways are filled with a vibrant mix of colours, scents and flavours coming from the roadside restaurants and all-day markets. The real action, however, happens after sunset. Surrounded by neon lights, Thais and tourists alike flock here around dinnertime to feast on some of the best street food in town. Escape the chaos by venturing a little further from the main road and discover hidden shrines, friendly locals and daily life in its purest form.
