The property is as impressive as it is imposing. Nostalgia runs deep in this hospitality landmark where old world charm beckons. However, after the initial first impression, the surrounds can be quite trite and boring. Meaning, staying here is good for those who crave a quiet, relaxing holiday, Service is acceptable ... though barely. Language fluency in English leaves much...

This is a special hotel, as it is in an outstanding colonial style villa on Sukhumvit 31. As tourism was low in March, we were nearly the only guests in the hotel. Room was stylish, old style furniture, high bed - good sleep. Location is fine - near Emporium and the Japanese area of Fuji supermarket - many restaurants and...

Although the hotel is undoubtably beautiful, the service and our whole experience was dreadful. We only stayed for one night and day. The reception was extremely unfriendly, too preoccupied by the event they were hosting the next day - a fashion shoot. They were setting the place up for the shoot until late in the evening, being noisy and hammering...

If you love vintage, colonial decor..this will be the place you wanna stay. We stayed here for 4nights. Our initial plan was to stay at eugenia for 2 nights, and move to another hotel for another 2 nights. But we fell in love with the whole ambience, and the great hospitality of Eugenia staff. The hotel is walking distance to...

I had a really relaxing time in Eugenia hotel. Hotel has very romantic interior and nice staff. But you must wear the room slippers in your room because some nail heads stick out. But everything was very nice!

We were positive surprised about this gentle renovated hotel. Our room was spacious, clean, beautiful furnished and the staff was very friendly! I can recommend this hotel to everybody who's a lover of the authentic colonial-style and is looking for a nice, quiet hotel in the middle of Bangkok.

Well, I'm european, lived two years in Bangkok, was in Holidays here many times and still going. I did stay at the Lebua, the Kempinski, the Banyan Tree, and many more, all luxury full service hotels and I got tired of it. As a vintage lover the Eugenia is perfect. It feels very personal and private, all furnitures and lamps...

My wife and I recently visited The Eugenia, and while we found the hotel charming and quaint, we thought that the service was thoroughly disappointing. We went during the recent disturbances in Bangkok, and needed some assurance from the staff as to where to go or not to go. The staff was clueless, and in many instances, had less information...

Staying in Sukhumvit

Neighbourhood Profile
Sukhumvit
With a mix of shopping malls, hip bars and food stalls lining both sides of Thailand’s longest road, you’ll rarely encounter a dull moment along Sukhumvit. While the main road itself doesn't offer a lot in terms of entertainment, it's the adjoining 'sois' (alleys) where the magic happens. Popular spots are soi 11 for a lively night out, soi 4 for naughty nightlife and soi 21 for world-class shopping at Terminal 21. It's hard to cover everything this area has to offer in on day, so be sure to take your time. Sukhumvit is heavily congested with traffic during day and night, so getting from A to B is most convenient using the BTS Skytrain right above it.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
"The Charming Embodiment of Fine Living" " The Eugenia ", an old world style architectural beauty, is embodied in a late 19th century colonial-style house, charmingly decorated and tastefully furnished by its owner in the heart of down town Bangkok for travellers with refined taste who seek to enjoy more than a touch of the Fabled East. Each of the 12-suites of The Eugenia is appointed with antique furniture and fittings. The four-posted beds, settees, dressers and desks in the suites are of various vintage as are light switches and light fittings; they bring you back perhaps eighty or a hundred years, or more. The period decoration even extends to the bathtubs that were made of hand - beaten copper and aluminium-alloy. ... more   less
