Love this place!

Second time staying here during this trip, absolutely love this place. The staff are warm and welcoming and Jess is an absolute babe, super helpful and so much fun!! Excellent facilities and a pool, what more could you wish for.

Over rated

This hostel is over rated. Firstly, they have no card facilities. Secondly the have super thin and super hard mattresses. Thirdly the bar cleaning staff was super rude to me. My towel which I used to swim with was hanging on my chair. I got up to sit with a friend. Then this person came and took my towel and start to clean. I told him it is my towel and he got very aggressive with me and told me he is cleaning and basically through me with the towel. Mad monkey hostel is definitely not worth the extra money when compared to other hostels.Another irritating thing was all the stupid rules and then the rediculous things they will do to you if you do something. We are all grown ups and dont meed to be treated like children. Also note that you are not allowed to bring ANY drinks (alcohol, water and soft drinks) or food to this hostel. If you do, they say they will throw you and your stuff out. Very important to note: this hostel is spread over numerous floors, with no elevator. No where one their website it was clearly stated. I fractured my back last year and would never have booked this place if I knew this. In their defense, i got the 4th floor and then told the receptionist about my back and she moved me to first floor. In an positive note: They have a amazing swimming pool with a great party vibe. Lots of free shots and beer pong!! All the other staff was super nice and helpful. Made nice friends too.…

Great Hostel

Sociable hostel with a great location, really easy to meet people as a solo traveller as they organise events every night, they also have a travel agency on site so you can easily book buses and tours. Jess is really friendly and helpful! Would highly recommend staying here

Bad experience

The place is just a hype. It would be best to avoid. The staff is rude and do not help you out with anything. 1) while checking in, even after showing booking confirmation and booking ID, they made me wait for half an hour and by that time the attraction which I planned got shut. 2) the place has no elevator. I was given a room on 4th floor and no one helps you in lifting your luggage 3) no drinking water provided. They do not have water facility and they ask to buy bottle from their bar. The list goes on and on. Primarily I want to convey that it is not worth the hype. Please avoid booking.

Perfect for Anyone who Doesn`t want sleep!

Practically the have parties going on days and night. If your room located near the pool, have fun without any sleep during the whole day. And if your room on the other side, bar side, have fun having no night sleep. If you want party in Kao san road, which is near, expect also having a non stop loud parties in your place of sleep. Also, drunken tourist wandering around your room talking loudly and behave drunk. Not one for anyone who fancy a good short rest!

We do go to great lengths in our online marketing, videos, and room descriptions to make it clear that we are a party hostel. For this reason, we will tend to be a little noisier, our bar does close at midnight, leaving lots of time for a good night’s sleep by most standards. Had you informed us at the time we would have gladly moved you to a new room if one were available. We hope you’ve been enjoying your travels since!

Is there a kitchen that we could use?

No kitchen that I seen but it's probably more expensive to buy ingredients and cook than it is to just buy something off the street or at the bar.

Any advice on the best way to get to the hotel from the airport? How much would a taxi or tuk tuk be? Thanks.

Where airport you have landing in Bangkok.? Cause Bangkok have 2 airport. Are Don Mueang airport or Savarbumi air port.? If you have landing in Don Mueang airport, many transportation can you chose, you can use train, bus or taxi. If By train, you can Walk acros the airport to the station, you Will be drop in Hua Lampong station and you can use Uber or grab car to hotel (train ticket amount 20 bath & Uber/Grab to hotel amount 50 bath). If you chose bus, ride A1 bus from gate 6, this bus Will take you to cathucak (bus ticket amount 30 bath) and from cathucak you can ride Uber or grab to hotel (amount 100 bath). For taxi from Don Mueang to airport amount 309-400 bath exclude price for highway road. If you from Savarbumi airport you can chose bus, taxi or BTS skytrain. You can ride to the City central and use Uber or grab to the hotel. If you to Bangkok you must download Uber or grab cause this transportation is more cheap than other. Happy Holidays
