The beginning wasn't great. Lady at the reception looked like nervous that we showed up :))) she asked ask for our credit card to copy and was suprised we said no :). But this first misunderstanding was overcome and then everything was very good. Building itself is very beautiful, location is great (but if you are a light sleeper expect...

We were greeted by friendly helpful staff. The accommodation was neat and clean; well situated within walking distance of all the major attractions but away from the bustle of the major tourist streets. Freshly prepared simple but adequate breakfast and really fabulous coffee. A laundry around the corner did our washing overnight at a very reasonable price. Many Thai restaurants...

A year later, my partner and I still reminisce about our time in Baan Chantra. Of the three places that we stayed in Thailand, Baan Chantra is the one that actually brought us into Thai culture. The traditional teak house is beautiful (but watch your step on the wooden stairs! Polished steps+stocking feet=slippery!) Every single person working there was exceptionally...

There's nothing actually wrong with this place but it's priced like a 5 star joint up on Sukhumvit Road when it's actually a fairly ordinary doss house near Khao San Road. It has no amenities over and above the absolute basics, isn't very well furnished or presented, has very nice staff but nothing beyond what you'd expect but somehow expects...

I really loved this hotel in many ways. The rooms aren't the most modern, but the location and staff are wonderful. Every morning when you wake up and go for breakfast it feels like you are being hosted by a Thai family. I talked with everyone who worked there and everyone was very friendly and were beyond hospitable. The wifi...

The room was clean and had all we needed. The staff was very helpful with making us familiar with the area. They have several breakfasts choices, which is nice if you stay a couple of days. The location is perfect as all major touristic places are within 10-15 minutes drive range. Our room was at the front side which is...

A quaint B & B close to Bangkok Old City, Baan Chantra is within walking distance to the Grand Palace and the Temple of the Reclining Buddha (Wat Pho). Its location gives one a taste of the “real” Bangkok, with good restaurants, shops, and street markets (including Khao San Road) close by. The neighbourhood is safe. Taxi access is ready....

Beautiful and simple. Quite traditional Thai house on busy road. Short walk to the action. Great place to sleep. Not much of a common area to hang out or meet other travelers. Wonderful people. Nice family vibe. When our taxi arrived at 11:00 pm after a delayed flight, the guy at the desk was outside to help us with bags...

My wife and I arrived on an evening flight after traveling 26 hours from the US for a first visit to Bangkok. We had a reservation at Baan Chantra but had no idea what to expect. Staying in Banglamphu

Neighbourhood Profile
While you’ll see skyscrapers in most parts of Bangkok, it’s the gilded roofs of ancient pagodas that adorn the skyline of Banglamphu, the city’s historical and most touristic district. Hordes of tourists flock to this area to tick quite a few must-see attractions off their to-do list, with the Grand Palace being the most spectacular of them all. Banglamphu is also home to Bangkok’s infamous tourist ghetto, centered around Khao San Road. Visit at night to feast on road-side pad thai, cheap beers and if you’re up for it, some dancing fueled by buckets of Thai whiskey.
