The Amara Bangkok hotel garners praise for its impeccable cleanliness, with guests commending the pristine condition of its rooms, facilities, and pool area. Many travelers are attracted to the stylish ambiance and the breathtaking city views from its modern rooms, though a few note the music can be monotonous. The rooftop pool stands out as a highlight, alongside a diverse breakfast spread and a location that offers convenient access to local attractions and transport. While the hotel's service is repeatedly lauded for staff attentiveness and friendliness, opinions on value are mixed, with some guests mentioning unwelcome additional costs.

My wife and I stayed one night at the Amara, chosen for the last day before facing the return journey. We booked the standard room with Booking and asked if it was possible to have a late check out, but at the time of check-in, the very kind receptionists, not only gave us the possibility of checking out at 4.00 pm but even gave us a free upgrade to a club room of over 40m2 with a view of the Mahanakorn tower and access to the Club Lounge with free food and drinks with a breathtaking view from the 20th floor. The room obviously had all the comforts, very comfortable bed, bathtub and shower with a view of the skyline. We also took advantage of the room service, too bad they didn't have the Caesar salad available, but maybe it was due to the time, a bit late for Thai standards. Breakfast rich in everything, from Thai to European cuisine. Not satisfied with the check out until 4pm, we requested a further extension for a fee and kindly they allowed us to stay and take a last shower until 7pm ready to eat something at the restaurant and take the return flight. I recommend Amara to everyone, for its location and quality of service. It will definitely be our first option when we return.

Amara Hotel Bangkok:
Great check in service, nice and quick. The staff were friendly, attentive and knowledgeable of activities, shopping, and other information we requested.
The room was ready when we arrived early, so we were able to check in early, which was great since we had been travelling for 14hrs.
The staff in the restaurant were helpful in explaining the dishes to us, and accomodating our dietary requirements.
The local Patpong markets are a 2 min walk down the street, the food is cheap and amazing, the nightlife is an eye opener but a barrel of fun. You may wish to pre-warn your conservative friends and kids if you’re travelling with them. In saying that, it doesn’t feel seedy in any way.
Cocktails on the roof by the infinity pool are a must, esp late in day as the setting sun provides great photo opportunities.
The highlight of our stay would be sitting at the rooftop bar talking with “A” as he made cocktails for us. His knowledge of cocktails was excellent, along with his willingness to make custom cocktails or vary the ingredients for us. He also gave us useful tips on where to shop like a local and get great bargains, along with recommendations for restaurants when we travel further away.
If you have an Employee of The Month then “A” gets my vote hands down!!!
If you get the chance to stay in Bangkok please consider staying at Amara, you won’t be dissatisfied.

Stayed at the hotel with a family with a small child. Booked a room with 1 large bed, so for the child there is no separate, when checking in at the reception said that there are no available rooms check in this one. Since they settled at night, it was not possible to solve the issue any further. The room has a large, beautiful view of the city and the Russian Embassy. Breakfasts on the minus ground floor, pretty good. The pool overlooking the city and the Mahanakhaun Tower is very small for such a hotel, the sunbeds of 10 are occupied in the morning. One day there was a party by the pool and called everyone from the street, and when we, who had paid for the hotel stay came in, they started kicking out that they were getting ready by the party and the pool was not allowed to be used, and we only had that day and it was and we went away.

After showering, I grabbed one of the towels tand noticed there was a large brown stain on it (see picture). I checked the other towel they provided and there was a similar stain as well. I'm very upset that for the price this hotel charges, they cannot provide clean towels for their guests. The room is fine, but I don't trust the cleanliness after having this disgusting experience my first night.

Good central location. To Metro and drive up about 10min. Patpong and Silom close by.
Only with badge card to the floors good security. Disadvantage Douche since the water unfortunately runs back to the bathroom. Could not be fixed. Room 2105 out back less noise.
Breakfast buffet very varied and can also sit outside

We had an amazing stay at Amara. From the moment we checked in, the service was impeccable. We requested housekeeping and room service multiple times during our stay and the service was prompt. The pool has amazing views and multiple sun beds to relax on. A special mention to Reggae who ensured we had the best stay possible. We will definitely be returning soon to Amara.

We,like staying here as the location and rooftop pool are excellent. However, the rooms are showing age and problems as have not been updated in ages. Worn out carpet, , scuffed paint, patched hole in the wall where a fist must have landed in anger. The lighting controls are old and confusing. There,is a serious tripping hazard entering the bathroom. Air conditioning worked poorly on arrival requiring maintenance to,fix. Why do they still have an,outdated high speed internet cord on the desks…everyone uses WiFi these days this is a relic of the 1990’s. The pool is still great however the seating is always hard to find. . The whole pool deck needs renovations as it has not changed in years and now looks quite dated. The elevators are confusing and accessing the pool.level is a guessing game. Price for mixed drinks at pool bar are outrageously expensive too. However…would return!

The reception is very friendly, the rooms neat, clean and modern.

We have to subtract one point for clairvoyance. Especially in the morning you heard the cleaning staff or something very loud.

The closest Skytrain station is Chang Nonsi with about 7min walk, but was no problem for us.

The pool was clean, small but fine with great views.

Stayed for a week in the club cabana room, which offers a shared large terrace on the 9th floor with splendid views to the area and jacuzzis. It should also include access to the club lounge which is currently closed.

Room itself was spacious, clean and well equipped. Internet was functioning stable, and by far the most impressive feature was the japanese style toilet seat with all the heating, cleaning functionality that includes. Definitely a first in Bangkok for me.

The private terrace and baths are in its own a splendid perk and quite worth the almost double price for the room rate. However, unfortunately, that is where the only shortcomings for the hotel stem from. You cannot self-operate the jacuzzis and you have to call the staff. Sometimes they need reminding. Sometimes multiple times. And on one particular occasion they managed to ignore the requests to turn the jacuzzi on completely.

Also the heating part of the baths was broken - it was the rainy season in Bangkok and the water in them was not THAT warm, so warmer water was missed greatly.

The rooftop pool and bar offer a fabulous view of the surrounding area, including the Mahanakhon tower. Their accommodations page also mentions daily complimentary drinks at rooftop bar, which were not offered or mentioned by anybody. On a sidenote - at rooftop bar buy beer by the pitcher for better value!

Breakfast was available but I chose not to order it. There is a local food market like 150m from the hotel where you can get solid thai breakfast for 100 baht + the lively market experience as a bonus.

Lots of entertainment, dinner and drinks places in the area + skytrain close by. Would definitely recommend the hotel, even with the shortcomings.

Dear Peeter, First of all, thank you very much for your time writing review in details and highly appraicted. I also shared with the operation team on your mentioned point by point. Indeed, our jacuzzi system does not allow guests to do self activation, therefore, we create the signage informing guests to contact the hotel should Jacuzzi service is needed. You pointed out on the mattter of the water which our Jacuzzi runs with normal temperature water and not warm water. Therefore, we need to add this information on the signage. Never once that our team members will ignore any guests request, however, activation perhaps could be done slower than your expectation. I do apologize on not being informed on the benefits of complimentary drink wrtten on the confirmation letter, however, it's the practce for our front office team to verbally informed guests on room's benefits with providing the complimentary coupons as well. Once again, Peeter, I hope that the hotel will have chance to be your selected hotel for your future visit to Bangkok. Regards, Poom Samkasat General Manager
