Amara is a gem hotel in Bangkok. Located on Surawong road, going to Siam is just 5-10 minutes by Taxi. Walking distance to nearest BTS Station is 5-7 minutes. There is minimart 7-11 in one minute walk ! Not many hotels in Bangkok with a mart like this.
Pool is on the rooftop, the view was very cool. Rooftop bar looks nice. We enjoyed the pool everyday.
Staffs at lobby are super friendly. I heard they spoke Chinese with the guests. some speak Spanish, Cantonese and Japanese. What a team !!!
When I checked out, we kept our bags at hotel until late night with free of charge. Staff asked us to wait at the couch and brought us our bags. This was a great service.

This is the second time my parter and I have stayed at Amara, we upgraded to club deluxe this time but was a little disappointed in the service quality that was supposed to be part of the club offer, as we found we needed to ask for the extra provisions that were outlined as included when we checked in. There was no soft drinks in the ‘free minibar’, I asked for this to be stocked and was provided with x3 cans of soft drink over the entire 3 night stay. I had booked breakfast but had to ‘prove’ this on my booking confirmation.
The club lounge smelt strongly of smoke. Stale cookies and a coffee machine is on offer to help yourself, again you have to call for service if you’d like a soft drink. The club happy hour, however, was good and included free cocktail/alcohol and a plate of sliders/nibbles.
It was tricky to find space at the pool, perhaps this could be reviewed to be reserved or part of the club offer, which would also rectify the lack of minibar and club lounge service?
We appreciated late check out at 4pm, the room has a comfortable bed, excellent AC, the hotel is clean, spacious and the views are great. The bathroom design/maintenance could be improved, the water from the shower gets everywhere despite there being a glass screen.
Breakfasts were varied each day and had a good selection of Thai and western options, all fresh and plentiful.
The hotel is in a good location, a short walk to the BTS skytrain.

Club 10 room, absolutely value for money, big kingsize bed, 2 adults and small daughter, free extra bed we asked to be removed. International breakfast is good. Terrible place. First of all, the pictures are very deceiving, the pool is tinier than it looks and there are no sun beds which is crazy for Bangkok weather. We arrived around 11am, they told us a room was ready but we would have to pay 45€ for early check in, no good will at all. In addition they had closed the pool for the day and we were only staying for two nights. You would think they would maybe compensate for this and give us the room 3 hours earlier for free for not being able to use the amenities for half of our stay. To make a guest wait or pay extra especially when you cannot offer them what they pay is greedy and despicable. Just go somewhere else, there are better hotels for less money.

First of all, our standard check in time is 2 pm and you can enjoy our facilities while waiting for check-in time same as other hotels in Thailand and the rest of the world. Unfortunately, our pool will be closed for private event but it is from 16:30 onward on 24 Oct (3.30 hours ONLY) as our pool operates until 20:00. We honestly informed upon arrival and we would like to recommend you to enjoy our facilities from 11:00 - 16:00 (5 hours) on 24 Oct and from beginning of your day on 25 Oct from 06:00 - 20:00 (14 hours). One of the best hotels I ever stayed at. I booked the Club10 room but they upgraded me to the suite for no extra charge. The views were absolutely incredible and the staff was extremely friendly and welcoming. Breakfast was fresh and the guava juice was delicious.

We arrived at 15:30 to be advised that our room wasn’t ready, my reservation confirmed check in from 14:00 and I had advised on our arrival time. We were asked if they could have an hour to get the room ready. Having travelled from London and been travelling for 15+ hours I asked if another room was available which they found and we were able to check into. Once in the room there were no towels available and I was advised that they hadn’t yet been delivered. After travelling for that many hours and just wanting to have a shower it was very disappointing. I had booked this hotel on the basis we would be able to relax after a long journey. To summarise I don’t feel this is truly a 4 star hotel as lacked any attention to detail and the rooms were basic. Overall expensive for what it was and I wouldn’t return.

I booked this hotel based on a photo i found on social media. My original booking was 6 nights but the warm wellcome and service made me decide to stay longer. Staff in any position went out of their way to make my stay as memorable as possible and offer personalized service. I felt very much at home. As i am a photography enthousiast, i was offered a corner room with amazing Bangkok views. Rooms are spacious and well equipped, including a selection of body products. Rooftop pool views over Bangkok are unrivaled . Hotel manager came to greet me in person and shows a genuine interest in their guests. Was a bit disappointed with this hotel. Had trouble with the washroom toilet and after 3 attempts to fix it the hotel did upgrade us to a new room. Little things were not great. The hair dryer was missing the filter screen and sucked my hair in, which I then had to cut out as it was fried and matted. The replacement hair dryer was held together with electrical tape. The restaurant was mediocre, the rooftop pool/bar was also very small, with only a couple of lounge chairs for sun bathing and the majority of seating for the bar. Location was very good. Central to the city and close to Skytrain. While the rate was good, I would spend a bit more at a better rated hotel and would not stay here again.
