Ditto what everyone else has said. Great location, great owners and staff, great rooms, great price. Top floor rooms are particularly nice - so light and airy with views to mountains. Loads of lovely little cafes and a laundry on the soi. Cheapest food/drink I saw in chiang mai. Stay here, you won't be sorry.

Just left Kavil Guesthouse after a lovely 9 days. Chiang Mai is a beautiful city and Kavil is the perfect base to explore it from. The location is unbeatable, right in the Old City next to the Sunday Walking Street. The owners (I think) are incredible- they have been so helpful, organizing activities and tours, recommending restaurants and massages. They...

I cannot say enough about Mr Gerard and his family running the best guesthouse in Thailand. I came here 4 years ago for a few nights so I had to return only to receive even better hospitality. Here is what we encountered: - great prices for private rooms in the center of where you want to be in Chiang Mai...

We did not stay in the guest house, we walked by and had lunch and it was absolutely delicious! The restaurant is called Yummy. Plus a great price for a sit down place with free wifi. We had a large Apple Cinnamon pancake, and 2 curries with rice for 245 baht. Yummy and filling! The wifi was fast and really...

We stayed here for 4 nights total. The owners (I believe), a man and his wife have been the nicest people we have met on our trip. They truly made our stay so welcoming and even quite homey. Firstly, the man helped us with directions constantly, getting motorbike, recommending places and was even so happy to help! Also he didn't...

I have just finished my stay at Kavil guesthouse and it was an absolute pleasure. Me and my girlfriend spent 3 nights here at a rate of 300 Baht per night. Our room was basic, no TV, no minibar but who goes to Chiang Mai and watches TV? We had an en-suite with a perfectly working shower and a huge...

Nice room, and even nicer staff, try and get a top floor room because the view of the mountain is unreal! The bed was a little hard, but it had ac and a fan which both work well, and the hot shower worked like a champ. Breakfast restaurant just around the corner had the best conjee (breakfast porridge) we have...
