The Bodhi Serene is located within the old city walls of down town Chiang Mai surrounded by many ancient temples and is a mere 20 minutes from the airport, train station as well as the bus terminal. It is also visually and architecturally stunning with exotic Lanna style influenced by Chinese designs. There are only 38 rooms to offer most of which overlooks our central courtyard area with a tropical garden and waterfall.

Started at the bodhi Serene hotel where we are staying have to recommend the place it's quiet it's off the street you never see it unless you were looking for it great gardens good food lovely pool quiet. Wall surroundings buildings the spacious rooms are very comfortable air conditioning which is really important in hot humid climates and the bathrooms are clean well-maintained showers are great. I would recommend a stay here any day of the week.

In the old part of Chiang Mai, 20 minutes from the airport, you'll find a wall with a rather anonymous door. Enter here and you'll find a clean, cozy and comfortable little hideaway for your stay in Chiang Mai. A variety of services, a tour desk, a restaurant and a sunny pool area ensures you make the most of your stay. Around the hotel there's only light local traffic and the few sounds reaching you on the inside are nothing but a gentle reminder that there is still a world outside this little corner of paradise. Breakfast with Western and Asian alternatives as well as an egg station is served by the lovely garden where squirrels tend to jump in the trees above to entertain the guests.

All staff is friendly and attentive and greet you wherever you go. Only a few insignificant incidents along the way - just as we have found them on five star hotels in Thailand as well.

One little tip. If you find Thai beds very firm, you'll probably find the beds here very hard. The hotel was happy to instantly provide a top mattress to ensure a softer sleep.

We really enjoyed staying here and highly recommend this to others.

My partner and I booked a deluxe room last minute and got upgraded to a 'teak' room on arrival. The room was quiet, clean, had a large relaxing bath and outdoor patio facing the very serene pool in the garden. We enjoyed sitting by the pool and generally lounging around the pool area. Breakfast was served in the garden with a wide range of western and Eastern food options. Was very glad to have booked as this was 30% cheaper from some of the other top hotels but didn't feel like the standards were in anyway lower. Only sad we didn't stay longer. Good location in the middle of town.

Our 5 night stay in Bodhi Serene was everything that we hoped for. A quiet, unassuming hotel within the old city that’s walking distance to many of the temples and markets of town. The two bedroom apartment was wonderful, set back from the main road and gave us a real ‘home away from home’ vibe. The beds were comfortable, and the bathroom functional (although could do with a renovation).

The pool is fabulous. Cool, but just the thing for hot afternoons.

A few small improvements could help - we asked for another room key (only provided one) and were told a brisk ‘no’. The pool area often did not have towels so we had to find staff to help us. Although there was a kitchenette in our room, there was just the one bowl, plate and spoon - seemed a bit ridiculous to not at least provide a few more basic utensils? The breakfast was quite underwhelming - the bread was sweet, and the coffee tasteless. We decided to skip it and walk to the local cafes each day.

But these are minor things, and I’d happily recommend this hotel for people who want a quiet place to stay in the city. Really good value for money too.

I was here for 3 nights of a 10 day vacation to Chiang Mai. From the road this hotel doesn't seem like much... don't let that fool you, once you step inside however you are instantly transported to a hidden sanctuary. This open-air style hotel is nothing short of peaceful; the grounds are beautiful. It certainly embraces the serene aspect of it's namesake. All of the staff were always friendly, courteous and extremely helpful. The provided shuttled service to the airport was professional and on time. breakfast was served with plenty of open air seating. Food was excellent overall. Room was spacious. Price was very reasonable. For my interests the location was perfect. There was a 7-11 with ATMs across the street if you needed anything. at the end of the block was a currency exchange booth. This hotel was located close to many of the amazing Temples that are scattered about Old City. plenty of restaurants and cafes near by, and both the Saturday and Sunday night street markets are a couple of short blocks away. Such and incredible experience. I could quibble about some minor things- there were some minor cracks and chips and dings in the room that could use a bit of touch up... the bathroom "could" be cleaned a little better. But I'm obviously giving high marks here so it's really not much of a quibble overall. I would absolutely stay at this hotel again and would recommend this place to anyone considering a stay in old city, Chiang Mai.

Location wise :
OK location. But old Town is relatively small so basically any hotel could be in a good location.
Sadly alot of the surrounding shops at this hotel have closed including 711. There were livelier areas in old Town.

Staff: most of the staff were friendly and helpful. But hardly any other than the reception could understand English. Not sure what the norm is in chiang mai as this was my first trip there.

Accommodation and facilities:
We stayed in a family triple room which honestly looked better in the pictures than in reality. When we arrived the room was made up... But it was dirty. There were dead cockaroaches on the bathroom floor in corners. Spiderwebs on the wall lamps next to bed and the room was full of mosquitoes. I understand outside, but surely only one or two inside.
We ended up getting our own bug room gas at the mall and treating the room and bedding ourselves.
The room and bathroom was dated and needed maintenance.
The bathroom tiles and grout especially needs cleaning.

The pool was great and clean and towels were replenished often which was nice.

The breakfast was average. They offered coffee, juice, egg, sausage, some fruits and some breads/pastry. Not a massive spread but can understand that there were not many guests.

It was an average stay at best, but they charge 4 star rates. I think if you can book this place in a really good discount offer then try it. But personally if we return to Chiang Mai we will try something new.

This is a beautiful hotel in a great location close to many fine eateries in old Chiang Mai city and within walking distance of dozens of magnificent temples.

The rooms on the upstairs level are very spacious and include a high standard of linen and toiletries, separate shower and personal room balconies overlooking a lovely internal courtyard with a kind of moated garden. The upper level also features a restaurant, swimming pool, relaxation area and a library room which is a great source of information for Thai culture and history.

Breakfast is served on the perimeter of the tranquil courtyard with choices such as omelettes, fresh fruit, cereals and local style dishes.

The Bodhi Serene is a wonderful oasis in bustling Chiang Mai and very good value for money. Additionally, the level of hospitality and courtesy of the staff is exceptional. I have stayed here several times and recommend it to all discerning travellers.

I stayed 5 nights in this hotel. This is located in the old city so almost everything (including restaurants/cafés) you want to visit are within walking distance. The room was very spacious, had a spacious balcony (also had a small laundry drying rack) and AC unit was noiseless and functional. Room had a very comfortable bed, reasonable size desk and small dedicated area for making tea/coffee. Bathroom had a spacious shower area and a large round bathtub. Hot water system was perfect. Some days I had breakfast (was not included in the room price) at the hotel but nothing special about it to mention. The view from the balcony of the room overlooking the garden and water features were very nice. You may need mosquito repellants if you want to sit outside on the balcony in the evening/night. Pool was great and towels were provided.

My first day experience was somewhat disappointing. When I entered the room, it was full of mosquitos and I had to ask the reception clean the room properly which they did promptly.

The day I checked in, I found that the reception staff couldn't give me the impression of Thai friendliness and helpfulness. But this changed completely when I had to get my pre-departure Covid PCR test done (compulsory to enter some countries). Upon my request hotel organised this and the Lab (mobile unit) came to the hotel and did the test. Although the results certificate was supposed to come on the same day/next day morning, it never came and time was running out. At this point, the reception staff did everything to get my test results certificate. They called the lab/hospital (I suppose) multiple times (almost every 10-15 minutes) just like it is something personal for them. Ultimately the lab delivered (personally) the certificate (luckily the test was negative!!) and I was able to go to the airport in time. This is all about a great customer service. Again a big thank to the reception staff.

Firstly this hotel is picturesque, has lovely grounds and open spaces and in a great location. Lots of bars, restaurants and shops nearby for anything you need. Also so well located for walking distance to things.

Good size rooms, clean and have traditional thai vibes which was nice - my only gripe was the shower pressure was dreadful in our room (we had 4 rooms for our group two had fantastic pressure (211 & 212) closer to the main hotel space and two had rubbish pressure (216 & 217) further away from the main hotel space so assuming its a distance thing?). Lots of mosquitos though from the water garden but hotel staff would spray the room for you!

Staff were fantastic and really helpful throughout the stay.

Breakfast was pretty basic… no western cooked breakfast options but had a buffet ‘help youraelf’ style eggs, toast, fruit, precooked waffles, cereal and juice. So it was decent enough.

Pool was honestly fantastic, two pools the main one that has sun all day and a small plunge style that gets sun for half of the day. The pool furniture was tired and only has 7/8 loungers which isn’t enough, you might get a wooden chair if you are also lucky. More loungers could fit around the pool, after all its big enough and thats what people want to relax on.

The biggest and only real let down was the lack of restaurant - no food options after breakfast, whilst evening times you can of course eat out, it would have been nice to have a pool bar for lunch snacks/ drinks. It does have a lovely pool bar area it just seemed closed - maybe this is due to covid? But the hotel was pretty busy!

Would I stay there again? Absolutely.

Yes, we do provide baby cots free of charge for registered paying guests.

There are some and we would suggest you bring repellent with you. And for the room reserved to be located on the higher floor should not be bothered by many mosquitos.
