My friend and I stayed at the Au Lac Legend hotel at the beginning of February for 5 nights. We left the hustle and bustle of district 1 for a quieter location to finish our holiday in Vietnam and we got exactly what we wanted from the Legend(a very fitting name I might add).

The hotel itself is very beautiful inside and out and the staff are very warm and friendly, particularly the lady and gentleman who worked at the reception desk and also a member of staff named Phu who worked in the lobby he was very polite, helpful and always smiling. Our room was on the 7th floor with easy access via the lift. It had a very comfortable bed, and amazing shower, a little fridge which was handy and a TV to watch when winding down in the evening.

The rooftop pool was lovely and clean and had nice views of the city, along with a bar staffed by lovely people and 2 nice lounge areas with plenty of comfortable seating. Great for sunbathing or for just chilling out. Breakfast in the morning was served in the ground floor restaurant which is a great space and there was plenty of options including fruit, yoghurt and an egg station which is exactly what I need in the mornings.

The location itself is far enough away from the nightlife of Walking Street and district 1 but incredibly convenient and central to the tourist areas such as the Reunification Palace, The War Remnants Museum and The Notre Dam Cathedral, all of which are a short walk away and definitely worth visiting.

All in all we thoroughly enjoyed our stay here, would highly recommended to other travellers and would stay here again the next time we come back to Saigon.

Stayed for 8 amazing nights and absolutely loved the hotel and their terrific staff.
Daily breakfast was an awesome selection of Eastern and Western foods and the free afternoon tea was also a great event.
The room was well appointed but I feel they need to move the towel hooks so you do not have to climb over the wet tub to hang your towel and they need to put a non-slip mat in the bath/shower as it is a high climb to get in and out and if you add water to the mix, it is a little bit dangerous.
The rooms were cleaned beautifully each day but on a couple of occasions, our fresh towels smelled like smoke.
The staff were simply beautiful and attentive but the young man Robert was one of the best hotel staff we have ever encountered. He gave us hidden, non-tourist places to eat at and each one was a delight.
The location of the hotel was absolutely perfect, close to downtown, much street food and a short walk to District 1 (but far enough to not feel like we were bumping into tourists every 5 seconds nor being targeted by hawkers).
Overall, a fantastic stay and if we visit Ho Chi Min City again, we would definitely stay here. 🤩

We loved our stay at Au Lac Legend. The location is PERFECT, you can walk to the main atractions and the area feels super safe and nice. Lots of nice restaurants and cafés. The roof top is beautiful. Rooms are super clean and confortable. We´ve seen rooms without window and with window and we recommend staying in a room WITH window because it´s much brighter and nicer. The price difference is worth it. Bed is super confortable and shower is amazing. Cleaning was excelent. The staff is super friendly and kind. A special thanks to Ms. Ny and Eric Sun who helped me to order some food on Grab as I´m a vegan and there were no vegan options for dinner at the bar and also because I don´t speak vietnamese. They were super nice helping me not only to order the food but on receiving it and instructing me on how to "organise and eat" as the food arrived :) The only suggestion I´d made is for the hotel is to have some vegan options for breakfast and at the bar menu. For vegetarians and meat eaters is fine, awesome options but for vegans is a bit limited (coffee, bread, veggies, jam and fruits are available). This is the only downside. The rest was perfect!

After many hours of searching on various hotel websites.
My Wife and I chose the Au Lac Legend.
It was the photos of the roof terrace that got us teased and eventually sold.
We were not disappoint.
We had never been to HCMC before and so this hotel ended up being in a great central location.
We got collected from the Airport via their pickup service. The car was large and comfortable and the friendly driver was there waiting for us.
First impressions of the hotel was lovely and for us it just got better.
The checking staff were great and friendly.
The room we had was nicely formed and functional.
Our TV wasn't working.
However, the hotel had somebody up and it was fixed in 5 minutes.
The breakfast was good and had a decent selection of the sort of food you get in Asia breakfast. Don't expect a full English and why would you, you are in Asia after all.
You also get afternoon tea from 14:30 to 16:30 served on the roof terrace.
Which consists of cakes, pastries and fruit.
The roof bar, pool and terrace is a great little oasis.
It isn't massive.
However, it is still very nice.
The small pool is nice and great for a cooling off. Don't expect to do laps.
We would also like to thank the concierge went out of her way with all questions and bookings we asked for.
The language barrier was present.
But we are the visitors to the country and should be taken into account.
The only drawback was the noise in our 10th floor room.
We could hear the pool/spa pump rumble, but you forgot about after awhile.
Also the terrace breakfast setup and use.
It was from about 6am.
That noise is the only issue we had in our 4 day stay at this great hotel.

We will definitely remember it as the WORST hotel we had during our travels through Southeast Asia - referring to the name we would call it „wannabe legend“.

We don’t really know where to start, because such a bad stay we never had at a hotel. It was the very first time we were even thinking about getting to another hotel. The higher price for Asia makes it even worse.

First we received a room which seemed OK on the first look. But on the second look it was dirty, noisy and uncomfortable.

At the first night we woke up as the windows are very bad isolated & the air conditioning was noisy. Plus we heard someone taking a shower in the room over us very loud and clearly. Beds are very soft and uncomfortable. So we went down to the reception to get another room, which we got on the next day.

We asked for other location of the room (to another street), but we received the same room, 3 floors below. And what follows? Same story. Noisy, dirty and uncomfortable. To be honest it was worse. (Blonde hairs in the room, socket did not work, toilet „gun“ had no water pressure, toilet seat was shaky, queen size bed was in the corner with air conditioning over it)

Second everything looks a bit outworn and it’s definitely not worth the price. The pictures in the internet were great, but when you see it in real life it was so bad that we took it with humor and had to laugh. For example pool and rooftop are small, glass wall at the pool is dirty, tile joints in the pool are black (mold) and so on.

Third, the bad service. Barkeeper on the rooftop is arrogant and drinks are only ice. (took 2 sips to finish drink) Waited 10 minutes for a can of beer. No help with luggage down the stairs. (Receptionist in the morning was the badest and most unfriendly) All workers are at the phone or chatting instead of working.
We asked for takeout sandwich / breakfast as we had to leave to airport at 5:30 and had no chance to get breakfast. In EVERY hotel we ever visited we at least got a little sandwich to take with, but in this hotel the answer was: No, go and get yourself to a convenience store. (Harsh and unfriendly)

Only good thing is the location.

All in all they think they are some kind of highclass, but referring to the name of the hotel it’s more like „wannabe legend“.

Don’t burn your money and go somewhere else for this price.

The hotel was really clean and all staff were really friendly and welcoming! The breakfast was delicious and so was the afternoon tea. We made good use of the pool and bar by the pool, as well as the laundry service which returned our clothes so quickly and smelling amazing. Prices for everything were very reasonable and would recommend for anyone staying in Saigon as it is also a great location

Au Lac legend is an amazing hotel. Really close to everything, the staff were so accomodating and kind.

The rooftop pool was always a great vibe, playing great music. The breakfast buffet had a massive variety of food and was really tasty.

You are a max 15 minute drive away from EVERYTHING.

They exchange currency here and give you heaps of recommendations. We really enjoyed our stay.

Just make sure you don’t wipe makeup on the hand towels (we received a 100,000 VND bill because of this)

Wonderful hotel within 600 meters (5-7 mins walk) from major sights like Notre Dame Cathedral, Post office and War Remnants Museum. An extra bonus - just round the corner from the bus stop for those who want to take the 152 Airport bus. Location wise very convenient.

We stayed in a superior room with windows and we had three windows that let light in. Room was well appointed with robes, slippers, and bath amenities (including the bum gun for those who use it). The bath tub was lovely and while the room was small, it met our needs.

Breakfast had a wide array of choices from Viet cuisine, to Chinese food and European options. It was adequate but not as expansive as the buffet I had at the Ibis (but it was free!!). afternoon tea was a nice touch for those escaping the heat, but the food itself was again adequate. The outdoor fit was center and pool were both very small and they fit the nice rooftop lounge in a very compact space.

Where Au Lac shines is in the decor and service. There was nice pieces of art both in the lobby and in the rooms that highlighted the 54 ethnic groups of Vietnam. The robe was colorful and the lobby was tastefully decorated. The rooftop chairs were comfy and there was space for smokers to enjoy.

The front office staff (eg DTL-Mia and others), the bell staff, even the security personnel were all very helpful with bags or calling local businesses for appointments. The bonus is that if you have a late flight, you can leave your luggage at the front, spend the day touring the city and then use the rooftop showers to freshen up before your late flight.

All in all, a very good option for a stay in HCMC.

I absolutely recommend this hotel for your stay in Saigon. The rooms (you should choose a deluxe room with window) are not very big but modern, clean, quiet and comfortable. The breakfast contains everything needed from English to Asian cuisine. There is a good restaurant for dinner and a good looking rooftop area with pool and bar for some nice cocktails. They even serve free coffee time in the afternoon. The service staff is helpful and very friendly. Especially the supervisor team spends all attention to customers needs. The location of the area is at the border to district 1 but in district 3. Keep in mind that some trips only collect you from a hotel in district 1. However it is only 10 minutes walk in the city centre. This hotel is absolutely worth the price. Go there - you'll love it!

If you enjoy contact sports then this hotel is for you because you will need to shoulder barge the door every time you need to enter your room. Opposite the hotel is a construction zone and right next door is a hotel/club that plays insanely loud music until late at night. The hotel walls are thin and you can hear everyone’s conversations (I have had conversations with other guests who have had the same issues).
unfortunately when we arrived we did not have bath towels supplied in our room - it took the staff 2 minutes to come up and check if we were lying but another 20 minutes to actually bring them to us.
I would definitely not recommend this hotel - for the price there are a million other hotels in HCMC you can stay at.
