Close to everything. The staff are so friendly and helpful. The food is okay. The rooms need an uplift. Not really a five star hotel. But the location is absolutely close to everything around Ho Chi Minh city. Great for Moe morning walks along walking street.
Terrible service, cocktails tasted horrible. We were spoken to badly by staff, ridiculous pricing, plus, we were robbed of some money when trying to pay the bill, only good thing is the view and setting.
We stayed here for 4 nights and we had a good time. Although the room was a little outdated but the food service was not bad at all. I recommend this hotel. Book directly with them. The staff are friendly.
This is supposed to be a 5* hotel. I was so looking forward to staying here, my first time in Vietnam, it would be an experience, I thought. And it was... but not what I expected. My husband and I arrived relatively early, around 10am. Normally, we would have been happy to leave the suitcases, and go and explore the city until the room is ready. That day, however, my husband suffered rather severe stomach pains, and we had to stay put. To start with, most people at the reception desk either did not speak English or spoke it very poorly. I had to explain several times to several different people that we could not go anywhere and ask for the room to be ready as soon as possible, or offered to pay extra so we could have an early check in . There was NO consideration given to my husband's condition. We were directed to a pool area to wait for the next 4 hours till the room is ready. The pool area is extremely uncomfortable. The sun lounges are bare, no cushions. One cannot stay on them for too long. The sitting area with cushions features old chairs next to plants with cigarette butts in the pots... At around 1pm, my husband could no longer sit in those chairs. He needed to lie down and sleep. I went down to reception. 5 min later I was told the room was ready. How long had it been ready for? Nobody bothered to bothered to come up to tell us. It was upsetting. The room we were given was tiny, dark and dingy. Not even a small bar of soap in the bathroom. The fridge was warm, and there were 2 small complimentary bottles of water... Really? In the middle of summer? What ever you do, do not do laundry here, the prices are astronomical. 58AUD for a few t-shirts and some underwear... what a rip off! On the top of this, we came back from a tour today, and the room has not been tidied. I would have been OK with that if I payed peanuts but I did not expect such terrible service from the place that rates itself a 5* star establishment. I gave this place 2* because we enjoyed breakfast and the porter was great. Spoke better English than the guys at the reception too... Two more days to go...…
Have to move rooms twice in a 2 week stay. Unacceptable when water came flooding from drainage and furnitures being dragged across floor …..refused to understand what is “proof of accommodation” during check out and just repeatedly said you paid through Expedia, ask them for an invoice…. There is no invoice in “proof of accommodation”. Some staff are good, especially the one who recovered my wallet in the first room’s safe.
Our flight was cancelled so we got to this gorgeous hotel 1 day later than we should have. We had a lovely room with Ho Chi Min out our window. We had beautiful views of the city, the room was very spacious, clean and inviting. Breakfast was included - it was quite busy but I guess that goes with a big hotel! Well worth the money to stay at this central hotel - you can walk everywhere and watch everyone else walking (or maybe riding) from your balcony. The roof top bar was nice but the view wasn’t any different from our room balcony - I think we were just lucky - do have a drink up there though!
A nice spot to sit and have a drink even if very expensive for HCMC. Service is extremely slow as well as they were not busy. We also had to go to the counter for service as no staff approached us at all.
The hotel was in a great location. Our room was overlooking the statue of Ho Chi Minh, and as we were there for his birthday, we got to witness a lot of ceremonies. The hotel’s history is amazing, and this is showcased in a lot of the decor and pictures. Apart from everything, I’m glad to have stayed in a piece of history. We found the hotel quite confusing in that the cost of our room didn’t reflect the feel of the hotel. The cost was similar to a 3-star hotel in Australia, but was above high-end clothing stores and hosted officials and the Greek ambassador while we were there. We found that how we were treated compared to the wealthier guests was vastly different. The housekeeping and wait-staff were lovely, but the staff in the hotel foyer basically ignored us. At one point we stood at the front desk (we were the only guests In the lobby) waiting to be acknowledged by no less than 5 staff members, while they completely ignored us. I had to say “can someone please assist us”to receive help, and even then, we were obviously inconveniencing them. On observation of how the apparently wealthier guests were treated, made us think that had we been wearing our designer clothes, rather than our casual clothes, would have made all the difference. Based on the foyer staff alone, I would not recommend this hotel to anyone, and we certainly I’ll not stay here again.…
5 Star should be 3 star max. Standard rooms are dark caverns with miniature windows, hardly any daylight, and a view of....well concrete internal walls. No other way to describe it. No or hardly any aircon in the common areas so the whole hotel feels clammy and damp. Pay a bit more and go for a proper 5 start hotel in HCM.
We, our family and friends, intended to stay at Rex Hotel for about a week During the New Year Holiday. We then must move immediately to a different hotel because they were so rude. Extremely bad Customer Service. The upper management did not even care. There are so many Hotels around district 1, but We picked this one because of its location. great view and convenient. However, They are very unprofessional. We really don't recommend this one.
