Detailed Reviews
Stayed here for 3 nights whilst the rest of the world was gradually closing down due to Covid 19. I think when we left on 21st March there were only a few guests remaining and yet the staff did their utmost to stay bright and cheerful knowing full well that in a matter of days they would probably have no work. Our room was a really good size and the bed was very comfortable. We paid for late check out and our room was still cleaned on the morning of our departure and we were given fresh towels and fresh bottles of water even though we were not leaving until 8.30pm. This was a really nice touch. The roof top bar for cocktails was great with amazing views over the city, breakfast had everything you could wish for and more. We enjoyed watching the street come to life from our window table in the restaurant. We also enjoyed amazing food served at lunchtime in the lobby bar. We tried the salt and pepper frogs legs, seafood fried rice, fresh pork and prawn spring rolls, Caesar Salad, every dish was perfect. It was nice to sit outside as the sun went down on the busy street and just absorb the busy daily life of the people of Saigon.

We stayed in the Novotel in February 2020 for 4 nights. Excellent location for the centre of Saigon. Easy walking distance to most city attractions. Hotel is very well presented with a large comfortable bed room and bathroom, with a large window overlooking the city. we were on the ninth floor overlooking the main entance and street. Room service was excellent with good quality food and prompt service. There is a roof top bar which has to be pre-booked but we never used it. The swimming pool although within the building is "outside" and was very cold, but refreshing in the heat of Saigon, well worth taking a dip. Breakfast is a buffet so you'll always find something to eat. Remember it's in Vietnam so don't expect a typical cooked breakfast, however the bacon was excellent. The staff are friendly and helpfull and can't do enough to help you. Although situated on a busy cross road there was no noise to be heard when in your room. Drinks are a lot more expensive than in adjacent bars and restaurants but that's to be expected. Cannot fault this hotel and would definately recommend it for anyone visiting Saigon-Ho Chi Minh city.

I've stayed at other Novotel hotels in other cities and this one was extremely underwhelming and disappointing. I'm used to 5-star accommodation and I felt like this hotel was a 2 1/2 to 3-star hotel. First off, when I got into my assigned room, I immediately noticed a mildew smell to it, which lead to believed the walls and floor may have water leaks. This is not good if you have sinus congestions and are easily triggered by allergies. Not to mention mold may have built up in these rooms. I decided to only stay here a couple nights because my sinus got worse. You can't even air out the room because you can not open its window. I do question the cleanliness of this hotel. For the price, I would've gotten much better room at other newer places. In summary, I would not recommend this place as it is extremely over-priced and it should be kicked out of the Novotel family of hotels!

Dear Jdragon88, Thank you for your feedback on the difficulties you encountered during your last stay with us. Please accept my apologies for the inconvenience caused in your room. I am quite surprised about your comment as all guest rooms have proper ventilation system. I planned to check the room with my team one by one to find out if any mildew smell can bother our guests. We will really appreciate to have another chance to welcome you back at Novotel Saigon Centre. Best Regards, Lionel Moinard General Manager

We had a fabulous stay in Novotel Saigon Centre. All staff looked after us really well and took every effort to ensure we enjoyed our stay. We spent 15 nights in total at the hotel and our breakfast drinks would arrive at the table without us ordering them.
The rooms were spotlessly clean
The hotel is within walking distances of all Saigon landmarks and Saigon felt safe to walk around as a tourist. We did not have a single adverse incident whilst out walking

I have been to this hotel in late 2019, and I think I like the hotel because of the location. It is near city center attractions, and the staffs are nice and courteous. For my current trip I booked the Executive Room with access to Executive Lounge, but unfortunately due to Covid restrictions, the lounge has been closed, which is quite disappointing, because I would like to pay extra for the convenience of having a breakfast place nearby. But, apart from that matter, everything is still very nice. The breakfast was tasty, the cleanliness is still OK (although there was some foot prints in the carpets, that can not be cleaned), but I guess the bed linens and towels are quite fresh. So in short, still recommended stay, but probably better to stay at the standard rooms rather than the executive suite.

The highlight of the hotel is the staff.
They are friendly and they make sure guests are comfortable.
The hotel is conveniently located at least for me that I like to walk.
The rooms are spacious and clean.
I would like to give thanks to the cleaning lady of my room (1808), I was working from the room most of the days and she was making sure the room was spotless in the minimum time, unfortunately didn't get her name.
Thanks also to the concierge staff, there were two particular guys but I only took the name of one: Nhon(Jason and during breakfast Mr.Duy & Mr. Thanh.
Special, very special thanks to Ms. Phuong during breakfast, I got unwell during my trip and she noticed it, approached me and asked if I would need anything, took my name and I think thanks to her almost all the staff at the hotel including the nice lady manager knew I was unwell. Thank you Ms.Phuong for taking care of me during breakfasts, you have great positive attitude and attention to detail. Looking forward to my next stay in about 2 weeks.

The team at Novotel reception including the restaurant and the service staff are superstars! The care and attention they provide to any service request is impeccable and done with utmost professionalism. A special mention to Duy who is a great host downstairs and made our stay extra special. We ordered food and he organized cutlery and plates to be delivered to the room and offered to warm up the food if we had wished. Duy is also engaging and takes care in building rapport and keen to ensure he connects on sharing and advocating sights and sounds of Ho Chi Minh City. A fantastic advocate for Novotel and a champion person to have known. Tran deserves a special mention for looking after us at the ground level bar, she took great care of us. A unforgettable experience and stay! Our room was attended and cleaned by Tuyen who used my kids plush toys to surprise them upon our return. My kids were over the moon to see their favourite buddles on the bed cutely placed which made our daily returns an absolute joy! Overall can't fault anything we are so so thankful to the team at Novotel for making our stay all the very special and memorable!

Extremely disappointed
We Stayed 3 nights at this hotel. Our first night, our floor level smelt like smoke as the room next to us people where smoking and the only thing done was move us to another level, and I was disappointed to find out that these individuals weren’t spoken too, exposing those staying here to a fire risk. Our compliant was brushed under the rug.
Hotel in general was dirty, restaurant appears old and dirty also.
Never again and don’t recommend it.
The pool is not heated and in open air.
Shame on Novotel. Hated my stay there. Please Think twice before booking here.

Dear Alejandra, I sincerely appreciate you taking the time to inform us of the difficulties you have encountered during your visit in January. The experience you describe causes us deep concern and I wish to apologies if we allocated your room to a smoking floor and the unfortunate circumstances of your stay. This does not reflect the usual service and quality at Novotel Saigon Centre. I hope this experience will not impair your confidence in Novotel. Best Regards, Lionel Moinard General Manager

There is a pool. It’s on the 4/5 floor and open to the sky, but surrounded by all the walls going up to their top floor, so it’s kind of like at the bottom of a well. If it rains, you’ll get wet. It’s also blocked from the sun, so the water is freezing.
William M, AKA Davey Doesmore asked a question Jul 2018
Edina, Minnesota70 contributions19 helpful votesDoes the hotel provide currency exchange, USD to Vietnam?
Yes
It depends on what you’re looking for. The war remnants museum, Presidential Palace, Central post office, Opera house, Ben Thanh market, Norte Dame Basilica and many restaurants and a few bars etc, all within a twenty minute walk.
No sun. The water is cold year-round.
You cant sunbathe. The pool is semi outside; it’s surrounded by towers.
