Only 11.5km from Phnom Penh International Airport, located adjacent to the splendours of the Royal Palace and within a short walking distance of the bustling Riverside area of Sisowath Quay. Palace Gate Hotel offers you luxurious accommodation in perhaps the city’s most convenient location. How often do you encounter a hotel where your neighbors are Royalty? When you arrive, the first thing you notice about our hotel is our lovingly restored French colonial villa – perhaps one of the finest examples in the city – formerly the seat of power of the French colonial government. This stunning centrepiece, complete with ornate columns and wonderful examples of Cambodian tile making, serves as the home to our fine dining restaurant, Mealea. The restaurant offers both French Fine Dining or Royal Khmer Cuisine options, and our chef has created a range of culinary delights to please every palate.
Star ratings are intended to indicate the general level of features, amenities, and services to expect. This property is classified according to Giata.
Places to stay are graded on a 0-100 scale. The higher the grade, the easier it is for travellers to find restaurants and things to do within walking distance.

The location is very good, right next to the Grand Palace, it is very convenient to go anywhere, the service staff is also very considerate, there will be a special front desk to handle one-on-one from check-in and bring it to the room. Intimate explanation of precautions. Handed over ice towels and drinks 🥤. There are considerate fruits and drinking water when checking out, and there are fruits in the room. There is also Chinese service, and communication is also very convenient. Lina at the front desk speaks very good Chinese. The above are all true feelings. If you come to Phnom Penh, I recommend staying here. Although the room is not big, the overall experience is very good. There are also many European and American guests. In general, it is worth the price. At this moment, I am sitting on the sofa in the lobby to write this review. The following quotes are all to make up 200 words. Okay, it’s finally enough

The first time to feel the service is very good and warm, the second is very clean, the environment is beautiful and quiet, there is a feeling away from the hustle and bustle of the city, the pool is cleaned by someone every day, will also provide bath towels and lounge chair mats for guests to take the initiative, every time the waiter will warmly take the initiative to greet you, the hotel is very conscious of active service, as long as you need anything will be the first time to get a reply and solution! Love this sense of service, next time you come to Phnom Penh for a holiday trip, or preferred this hotel! This hotel is still non-smoking great protection for children and old people with second-hand smoke problems! Especially like the style of hotel decoration! Full of Southeast Asian culture

I honestly can’t say enough positive things about this hotel ! This urban oasis has top notched service and the staff make your stay memorable. The rooms along with the hotel itself are beautifully decorated and each room is well stocked with toiletries, extra water, etc…. The food served at the restaurant is delicious and reasonably priced. The swimming pool is fabulous, especially after a full day of sightseeing. Go back ,relax poolside and enjoy their happy hour from 3-5. Also check out the sky bar around sunset for a spectacular view! Lastly, checkout their spa services. We enjoyed a hour long foot massage which was divine! How could I forget the breakfast buffet! 😉 it was unbelievable! I hope you try and stay here because you will not be sorry!

My husband and I booked a long stay - 30 nights at this hotel. Centrally located, opposite Royal palace. Upon arrival, the hotel looks homely, not too big that it just looks corporate and not too small, that it looks miserable. The staff, from reception, bellboy , restaurant to room cleaning, they were all very friendly. Went that extra mile to please. We had the room with a balcony, rooms are big and spacious. Some reviews complained about the hotel decor being tired looking, I personally think it was very good considering the age of the building. All around the hotel, there are wood carvings, statues creating a Cambodian vibe. The hot showers, amenities, towels are clean. You get glass bottles of drinking water, away from plastic bottles. A little green step from the hotel. As with all foreign countries not speaking English as first language, if message is not understood, it is no fault of theirs. We just have to be patient and understanding. However, generally, room service and reception were excellent in understanding English. No hotel is flawless, however, the main flaw with this hotel is not with the hotel itself. It is the guest themselves. Guests at this hotel are mainly Europeans, and I mean big ones ( loathe to say it but necessary) You do, once in a while, hear them stomping about in their room. Again, because we were there for such a length of time, there was a period of 3 weeks, we heard nothing so it is not the building. It is the guest themselves, heavy footed. The pool is an oasis, surrounded by trees, you do get the sun on different parts of the pool throughout the day. So, sun lovers.. you do get the sun. Our wedding anniversary coincided with our stay, we were surprised at breakfast, a bottle of wine and a very well made up bed.( pictures included) The General manager, Panha Sin is most lovely, a very genuine person who really cared for the well being and comfort of his guests. On my last day, I visited the spa for a last minute neck rub and was told at the end, it was complimentary which was such a very nice surprise. I even received a home made plum cake sent to the room as a farewell gift ( it was delicious) All these little things make up the beauty of a local hotel. That extra mile, makes the holiday memorable. Would I stay again or recommend this hotel to anyone coming to Phnom Penh, a big YES. Most definitely. You can feel you are in Cambodia which is the very reason you are in the country.

This hotel is such a beautiful hotel quite literally across the road from the palace. Staying here is the perfect location so you can enjoy the palace tour and then walk 10 m across the road and then back to the hotel. The staff at the restaurant were my favourite. So attentive to the guests needs. We were always treated with huge smiles, chefs talking to us making us feel welcome and encouraging us to try local cuisine which was delicious. Rithy Chey the restaurant supervisor went out of his way to accommodate my son’s request to try the local mangos . Mr Rithy Chey is such a great leader and his staff are such beautiful people . Would definitely stay here again . The rooms are “palace” worthy - large bathrooms that could fit the whole family and the bedroom had a lounge and massive bed. Enough space for a King and Queen ( and 5 large suitcases) . Interconnecting rooms made it possible to keep an eye on teenage kids but still be able to close the door for peace.

We received a warm welcome at reception with a cold flannel and a Tamerind juice drink which was very refreshing, check in was smooth and straight forward. Located centrally to most if not all tourist sites and the walk along the riverside. The pool area was beautiful and green, as was most of the hotel which gave it a peaceful ambiance. The hotel had a very French colonial feel, the room being very much the same. Breakfast had a large selection of dishes and the breakfast room itself was a pleasure to be in. All our encounters with the staff were positive. This is a hotel we would stay in again.

We were transported to this hotel accidentally after disembarking from a cruise from Vietnam (mixed up the address of our original hotel) and I am so glad this happened! I fell in love with this place straight away as the reception staff were so welcoming and helpful in trying to solve our mix up. They quickly organised for us to stay and we had the best experience here. The room itself was not great in terms of position as it backed onto a construction site (on the river side) but they provided earplugs. However, the room was spacious and the bathroom was divine with a huge, beautifully tiled shower, multiple mirrors so two people can easily function inside at same time. The buffet breakfast was great, and the art work throughout was well-chosen. Best of all though is the magical swimming pool with individual cabana like spaces that overlook the beautiful French colonial building that is the restaurant. I highly recommend this hotel and we would definitely stay here again!

The hotel was conveniently located close to the Royal Palace. It was placed among a mass of vegetation, especially around the pool, which created a wonderful, jungle-like environment. The Sky bar was a great place to watch the sunset. Unfortunately, the service attitude of the staff let the hotel down. We arrived early in the morning so our room wasn't ready - fair enough. We wanted to sit by the pool and reception said they would come and get us when our room was ready. They didn't. We ordered some poolside drinks around 11:00. Nobody came with the bill until we left at around 15:00 when we were aggresively stopped from entering the lift and payment was demanded. We were expecting a message from the tour company we'd hired to fix the meeting time for the next day. We checked with reception as we were going out at 19:00 if they had received a message. The message had been received some hours earlier but they hadn't thought to deliver it. The impression we got was of a hotel where they got their business due to their location so the staff thought they didn't have to bother to deliver good service.

The hotel service is very good. There is a welcoming waiter at the door (Chinese service is available at any time), and he will serve you a cup of delicious fruit tea and a cool hand towel. The room is clean and sanitary, cleaned in time, and the waiter is polite, allowing you to enjoy the etiquette of the palace. There is a swimming pool in the hotel, and the water is so clean that you want to jump in at any time. The restaurant is quiet, and you can enjoy a delicious meal indoors and outdoors. The price is affordable and the taste is delicious. Very good hotel, very comfortable room, very good service. The overall environment of the hotel is very elegant, and the pigeons around the balcony seem to be telling you a beautiful story. The hotel is right outside the palace, and it is very convenient and fast to travel.
