I was actually not going to review this hotel as we had a terrible experience that nearly ruined a very special holiday for our family, but after reading the other review on this site, I felt compelled to do so. When we booked this hotel, (through Agoda), we booked as 2 adults and 2 children and the other people in...

Quiet hotel with two swimming pool. Breakfast near the pool. Very clean and very close to the city centre but in a quiet location. The people are very kind and when the taxi we booked didn't arrived we asked their help and the taxi they called for the airport bring us to the airport in time for our flight.

Positives: Beautiful hotel grounds, 2 separate pools - one shaded, one for sunbathing, very kind and caring General Manager, spa and local crafts shop on-site, good location, bar food is very nice, rooms are very peaceful and relaxing. Negatives: The family who disregarded the rules about "no children" and refused to leave threatening to sue the Management if they were...

Many thanks for your kind message and support to our policy! But we have a family friendly hotel right next door in order to compensate. I am glad you liked our place and excused us for the issue with the other guests! Please come back, it is usually very quiet in here! Cheers, Alexis

I'm going to try and write this without using the word "oasis" - damn there I go. After a typically frantic, entertaining drive from the airport (in tropical storm conditions), flooded roads, families of 5 on mopeds, vehicles of every description fighting for every last square foot of the road, we finally got delivered to the Pavilion. Or, actually, we...

Dear Mick, Now, this is really kind of you! Yes, one of the private pools started to leak due to a broken pipe. Sorted now and all four private pools, as well as the two main ones are working fine. Cheers, Alexis

Hotel surrounded by vegetation with two large pools, very well located (10 minute walk to Royal Palace). The hotel is integrated by different buildings and our room (#1), situated in the main one, was old. Breakfast was good but it was not buffet style and was tiring to order as the portions were small and service slow.

Dear Guests, Many thanks for your kind review! The breakfast is unlimited and you can order as many times and as many dishes that you like. The service was a bit slow indeed during the 3 days of Cambodian New Year as we were reduced teams.... Very sorry about that. It is the holly-est period of the year and every...

This grand hotel reminded me of the luxury of yester- year! The entrance is marked by 2 big white elephant sculptures. The door allows entrance to a beautiful green tree lined walkway leading to a big Buddha at the end. The architecture of this hotel is beautiful! You receive a welcome drink and bite sized rice dessert. Bellowing see through...

Fantastic pools , great restaurant and staff. Hotel is also very quiet but very central to all attractions . The only problem I had was the air conditioner in room 1 which blows directly onto your face in bed and can't be adjusted. This basically caused me respiratory problems and a severe lack of sleep. It should be moved to...

Dear Martin, I am very sorry about the air-conditioning. There is a flap that can be oriented from the remote to the direction one prefers. Pity you did not talk to the reception to get it adjusted or for some help... Cheers, Alexis

What a disappointment check in slow and unhelpful our room #7 was a disaster. Peeling paint in the bathroom with black mould & water stains on the ceiling. when you took a shower water leaked all over the floor. The hotel is advertised as adults only - not true. there were children here and needless to say the pool was...

Dear Anna and Michael, I would like to congratulate you for the amount of stress you managed to create today within our teams, for those who were kind enough to stay during Cambodia’s holiest time of the year. The front desk was indeed operating with reduced staffing and those who accepted to be away from their families, working for extended...

The Pavilion was a beautiful oasis in the midst of the hustle and bustle of Phnom Penh. All the places you want to see are within walking distance or a tuk tuk ride away. The welcome by the staff was warm and professional and nothing was too much trouble for them. We had a room with a private pool so...

Dear Akjordan, Indeed, the Spa could do with a fourth room... Not sure where to put it though as I do not want to reduce the garden space. But will certainly consider if we are able to do any extension. Happy you liked your private pool room! Cheers, Alexis

I loved the tranquillity of this hotel, not too big not too small and just so quiet and relaxing in a busy city. Room was lovely, bathroom a good size and the bed extremely comfy. I had in room dining on my first night and the food was really good, chicken satay skewers and mango salad. The staff were very...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
It all started when we fell in love with a hidden gem of French-Khmer architecture from the 1920s near Wat Botum, one of the most venerable and original pagodas in Phnom Penh. Renovation and remodeling were led with due respect for the character of a building which had been, as we learnt it later on, a private retreat for Queen Consort Sisowath Kossamak, the late King Sihanouk's mother. Opened on August, 18, 2006 with 10 rooms, The Pavilion has slowly expanded over the years, offering now 36 accommodations throughout three more period buildings that have been added to the property: "The New House", former residence of the chief veterinarian at the Royal Palace; "The New Villa", formerly the private residence of a Cambodian senator, and "The Sun-Pool Villa", our latest addition which used to be lodgings for diplomats based in Phnom Penh. Each one has its own style and atmosphere, with distinctive architectural features such as an elaborate wooden stairway, intricate iron wrought railings, etc… ... more   less
