Although the reviews seemed to be very positive for this hotel, we were disappointed to find the condition of the rooms small and inexpensively furnished. A converted home, the hotel is in need of updating, especially the flooring and the bathrooms. Our bathroom was so small, only one person could use it at a time and my husband could barely...

Dear Nancy, The flooring indeed dates back to the colonial times and the bathrooms have been fitted into existing buildings. Those buildings are part of Phnom Penh's urban heritage as some have been built by Queen Kossamak. We have decided to preserve them. But I agree with you, the bathrooms are not very big and the floors do look old......

Arriving at a door we thought what have we done maybe we got this one wrong but when you enter it is like going into a secret garden a place of peace and tranquility. Staff were incredibly kind and we only wish we could have stayed longer

Great place to stay in Phnom Penh. The hotel is like a little, green, peaceful sanctuary behind high walls that separate it from the rest of dusty, bustling Phnom Penh. The house and pool are really beautiful. We stayed one of the newer rooms in a new building with it's own pool, which was awesome. There's a free complimentary breakfast,...

As mentioned that I am a repeated visitor who first visitored this hotel back in 2008. The standard now is even higher with better services, room amenities, and a free massage (down side is it is so hard to book) Same as last time I has the room with private swimming pool. Everything was great

We had a 90 min Khmer massage at the Spa of the Pavilion and fully enjoyed it. The receiption person was very friendly. She asked us how strong we'd like our massage or if there is an area we'd like to address so that she can tell our massage therapist. Afterwards they offered us cold tea. I'd go there again....

The only bad thing about my stay in this hotel is that I stayed there for 2 nights only. The Pavilion is, by far, an oasis of peace in the very heart of Phnom Penh: perfect location (2 steps from the Royal Palace), friendly staff. The hotel is an old colonial-style french "maison" (I stayed in the main building, which...

We stayed here 4 nights in Dec 2012 and as the title suggests cant imagine there's many better places to stay although this was our first visit to PP. The whole hotel oozes charm and each room has its own character, four poster beds are a bonus and there was even an iPod dock which we were not expecting. The...

May be a good hotel, but they caused us much anxiety. Called the day prior to arrival AFTER confirming 2 weeks prior as required and booking 5 months ahead only to be told they could not find a reservation for us. It was someone by the name Arun who answers their phone! So left without a hotel at a foreign...

Dear Guest, I am very sorry that you could not stay with us. We have confirmed your reservation twice and we prepared and kept the room for you. We do not have any one called Arun at the reception of the Pavilion, you must have called an other hotel. I hope your stay in Phnom Penh was still pleasant. Cheers,...

We stayed here for 4 days in January and it was really good. Situated centrally in the city it was less than 10 minutes walk from the Royal Palace and there were plenty of restuarants close by. The staff were always helpful and friendly and deserve a lot of credit. There was lots of greenery in the grounds and a...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
It all started when we fell in love with a hidden gem of French-Khmer architecture from the 1920s near Wat Botum, one of the most venerable and original pagodas in Phnom Penh. Renovation and remodeling were led with due respect for the character of a building which had been, as we learnt it later on, a private retreat for Queen Consort Sisowath Kossamak, the late King Sihanouk's mother. Opened on August, 18, 2006 with 10 rooms, The Pavilion has slowly expanded over the years, offering now 36 accommodations throughout three more period buildings that have been added to the property: "The New House", former residence of the chief veterinarian at the Royal Palace; "The New Villa", formerly the private residence of a Cambodian senator, and "The Sun-Pool Villa", our latest addition which used to be lodgings for diplomats based in Phnom Penh. Each one has its own style and atmosphere, with distinctive architectural features such as an elaborate wooden stairway, intricate iron wrought railings, etc… ... more   less
