The Vayakorn Guest House lies in the backpackers circle but has a much better standard. In fact, the rooms are very clean and nice. Don't miss the breakfast, even if it's not included in the price. If you go to other places such as a bakery, you pay much more and get less for the price.

Spent 2 weeks here in November. Excellent location, right in the heart of the old city. Lovely reading areas downstairs. Rooms are very clean, beds are comfortable and hot water works. Regarding other comments about the staff friendliness; generally I found the staff in Laos restaurants and hotels not to be as smily-smily as in Thailand, but, still, if you...

Vayakorn is a solid comfortable somewhat older hotel which is still in reasonable condition. One or two things didn't work but that is the case often in any hotel. The bed was comfortable and large. Unfortunately the pillows were as hard as rocks! The staff were also uninterested and not very friendly but o.k. on the whole. I

It, was our seccond hotel in Vientiane, we moved out of the other one because it was unbeliebly noisy due to the festival just ongoing on the riverside. Vayakorn was a great choice. Not only quiet but very clean, with large wooden floored rooms with AC and fan. Good location also. Staff friendly and helpful.

Well-located place with standard comfortable rooms with no frills. We thought of trying a new place for this time in Vientiane but after shopping around decided to go back to Vayakorn. Value for money is still OK for Vientiane and it is close -on foot- to most places we wanted to go to. Very little charm but really handy.

You couldn't wish for a more central location we walked from here to the COPE centre, Patuxai Arch etc which were a bit out but very doable (with a beer pit stop our two). The previous reviews are unfortunately pretty accurate regarding the staff on reception. The seemed on the whole pretty disinterested and seemed surprised every time I said...

Clean, tidy, huge rooms. Bathroom was clean, shower was ok. The whole guesthouse has wooden floors, which is nice. There is no lift so beware if you are on the 3rd floor it's a long way to walk with bags. The location is fairly central, 5-10mins walk to most of the nice restaurants and the river. We visited the COPE...

Booked this place because of tripadvisor ratings. Good sized room, decent for the price you're paying...but was not impressed with the staff at this place. They weren't too happy to serve you. Came in after a long bus ride from luang prabang at about 6am and the staff wasn't at all accommodating, asking us immediately to come back at 2pm...

The Vayakorn Guesthouse is good value for the CBD of Vientiane. The wood floors and furnishings give the inn a nice feel. Antiques are used to decorate the common areas of the hotel, which is a nice touch. The rooms are very large, and the bathrooms are a decent size. The shower isn't directly over the toilet, which is a...

I stayed at the Vayakorn House for 2 nights. Location is very good. Restaurants, ATM's, sights within walking distance (but really everything is in Vientiane ;) ). The price for a single room was 18 USD without breakfast (no need to eat at the hotel - french bakerys are just down the street) . It was clean, spacious and safe....

“Any rooms on the 3rd floor, right hand side have large windows with unobstructed view (nothing spectacular) but you are not staring into the wall of another building so you have night natural light. I had the corner room at the back (306) so I had 180 degree view which I think makes a difference. Wifi worked great in my room.”
