This hotel is fairly new but looks much older then it is. The rooms were huge but the hotel in general seemed sad. Breakfast was passable. This is one of the only places in town that has an ATM Overall, stay here if you have to but if you can get some of the newer places for the same price...

My wife and I stayed for my wife's birthday. The room was dated and requires a facelift, but that is like Tashkent in general, and I suspect most hotels are probably the same. The pool area was great, though the dance music was occasionally a little distracting. We just wanted to relax by the pool but that is hardly possible...

The public areas of this hotel are excellent as is the breakfast. However the rooms are dated and require complete refurbishment. The rooms are very big, dim and windows do not open. They can be opened by a member of staff but then there is traffic noise at the front of the hotel. The rooms at the front of the...

I booked the junior suite for a couple of weeks and std single for rest. Staff hardly speak English. Be prepare to work to work for the management: want more coffee or tea at breakfast? You literally need to shout or get it yourself. Need a glass? Try to get the staff to bring more. Need a plug to your...

My wife and I had a 10 day tour of Uzbekistan starting and finishing in Tashkent, and stayed twice overnight at the Grand Mir. The tour was very hectic, so the time we actually spent at the hotel was fairly limited. My comments are therefore limited to a degree. The hotel is quite imposing, standing on a large roundabout in...

I unexpectedly found myself a guest of the Grand Mir hotel when my Airbnb host in Tashkent played a cruel trick and me and I was left stranded...I did not regret it! This is an excellent hotel in many regards. - Location: situated close to the centre of the town, the immediate vicinity is walk-able and close to many good...

In many ways my wife and I found this hotel to be a gentle introduction, and our second stay at the end of our tour a gentle wind down, to Uzbekistan. Tashkent is by far the most developed and familiar town for western travellers. The hotel itself is good overall, nice clean large rooms, but suffers from poor air conditioning....

This is a nice hotel with quite big rooms. The staff is friendly and very serviceminded. Though not everyone have a good understanding of English, our order of white wine resulted in red wine, but apart from that all went fairly well. Breakfast is quite good. We stayed here twice, in different rooms and they were both spotlessly clean. This...

I visited the Terrace Bar to see the city as the sun went down. The Terrace does not face west so a little manoeuvring is required. The service was good but the yoghurt and lemon dip was just cream cheese and disappointing, the bread was dry although presentation was excellent. Paying in local currency means the conversion from dollars is...

First trouble started on the reception when the girl gave me a smoking room without even asking what do I prefer. I booked a single, but when I got into the room there were two separate beds, had to get back to reception to get one big. This is probably the dirtiest bathroom I ever seen in the hotel. Have...
