The hotel was clean and comfortable. Every member of the staff was kind and courteous. Close to all major sites in the old part of Istanbul made this hotel a perfect choice for our all too brief visit. The breakfast buffet with yogurt and honey still in the comb alone is worth a revisit. Many thanks to Mehmet and staff.

We spent a wonderful week at the Berce Hotel. As everyone has noted, the location is terrific, the price is right, the breakfast is delicious, and the rooms are clean and comfortable. Mehmet is an excellent manager, an accomplished concierge, and a friendly advisor. We were especially grateful for his help with a few atypical requests, such as finding an...

Friendly and attentive staff who gave concise and useful advice on what to do. They were there to welcome us at midnight from a late flight and saw us off on our shuttle at 6am for an early departure. Breakfast on the roof was excellent and a great way to plan the day. Hotel is in quiet street in spite...

Me and my mum chose this hotel due to its simple furnishings compared to other turkish hotels in the area that seemed dated or over done. We also found the reviews to be positive and this was reflected in our stay there. Mehmet, on reception, was always helpful and chatty and the turkish breakfast was simple and delicious, eaten on...

The very positive experience started on our arrival, late at night, from the airport. Recognising we were tired, Serkan, kindly left all the registration formalities until the morning and took up our cases to our room. Our room was lovely and very spacious. It had good, quiet aircon, 3 small balconies with a view of the Sea of Marmara. Extensive...

It's a very little hotel very close to all the most important attractions. You have breakfast on the roof where there is a fantastic view of the sea and, on the other side of Blue Mosque. we find Mehmet, of the staff, very kind and helpful.

We thoroughly enjoyed out 3 night stay at the Berce hotel. We both slept soundly all night long in very comfortable beds. The rooms were spacious and equipped generously, with fridge, wardrobe, armchairs, bedside tables etc. The hotel staff were friendly and hospitable. Breakfast was on the rooftop with views over the Marmaris Sea. The food was plentiful and breakfast...

The Berce hotel would, in another location, be a delightful hotel. The staff is attentive, the rooms are on the large side and very clean. However, this is the loudest location we stayed at in Istanbul (out of three hotels). A nearby mosque means we awoke at 4:30am for the call to prayer, there's a nearby train, and the noises...

Just returned from 8 night stay at the Berce Hotel in June 2012. This is a great little hotel - 7 rooms - with a well placed rooftop terrace facing the Sea of Marmara, with the Asian shore to the east and the minarets of the Blue Mosque behind. The staff are all really lovely people, and could not do...

Stayed for three nights from 14th June on a quick trip to Istanbul. Airport pickup service was faultless (paid extra) and when we arrived Mehmet who is the manager was so helpful is providing maps and ideas of things to do. He did not try and suggest certain tours etc but when we decided on what we wanted to do...

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighbourhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
