I traveled with my niece who, can find her way around, while I get lost without guide. Close to the key sites and being in the Sultanhamet this hotel was idea for adventure. We walked everywhere. The staff are a MAJOR asset; kind, helpful, and personable throughout. We had great advice and thus a wonderful experience. I chose the hotel...

We stayed in Istanbul for 5 days, and loved every minute of it. Istanbul is a great city to visit, with lots of beautiful sites to see. As an all female group we felt safe sight seeing in Istanbul. After a couple of long days out on tours organised through the hotel, it was a relief to come back to...

The Acra Hotel's location in the Sultanahmet quarter is idea for exploring; the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia, and Topkapi Palace are within easy walking distance as are abundant shops and restaurants.

We had a great stay in Istanbul at the Acre. The staff are very friendly and helpful. They will try to sell you tours and packages but wont hassle you if you explain you're not interested. The rooms (we moved half way through so got to experience two) were clean, comfortable and fairly spacious, though they didn't have views. The call...

From the moment of entry till our departure the staff was always very kind and helpful. The hotel is new and located in a quiet Sultanahmet street, only a couple of minutes from the Blue Mosque and Agia Sofia. Plenty of restaurant facilities around the corner. The rooms are big, the beds perfect and include a spacious wardrobe with your...

If you are looking for a hotel that is central to the cultural high points in the city, has a superb choice of restaurants and extensive shopping within 2-300 metres could not do better than choose the Acra Hotel in Istanbul. We have just returned from a seven night stay at the hotel and we had a superb time there....

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighbourhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
