Like others have written recently, we booked this hotel based on its great Lonely Planet review and strong Trip Advisor scores - but perhaps something has changed with it recently, because it definitely didn't live up to our expectations. First of all, calling it a "B&B" is generous, and calling it a "hotel" is straight-up misleading. We arrived in the...

Unfortunately, despite all the shining previous reviews I had read about this hotel, including glowing reviews in the Lonely Planet and from a friend from home whose judgment I trust, things seem to have gone drastically off the rails here....I also thought the room, although well appointed and spacious & in a nice neighbourhood, wasn't particularly clean. They said they...

We stay in New Galata for 6 nights and finally we don't recommend it at all. Location was good but the room was as clean as it should be. There's not a clean daily service, so in 6 days they didn't clean the room. They said to let the towels in the floor if we wanted to change them but,...

This place is in Beyoglu, a very nice neighbourhood in Istanbul. It has easy access to the tram (10 minutes walk), the subway (2 minutes walk) and the main port, Eminönü (15 minutes walk or 3 minutes funicular). Galata tower is just a short nice walk away, as is sedar-i ekrem street, with lots of cafes and clothing stores. Istiklal...

We were completely happy with our 2-night stay. The room is cleverly designed, all blond wood; it's long and feels like a studio apartment. The kitchenette is new and functional; there's coffee and tea, great bathrobes. Great room service breakfast every day. Sennur is a perfect host – cool, cheerful and caring. Our outgoing flight was late in the evening...

This is a great boutique hotel and we had breakfast there every morning. It is right in the centre of Beyoglu and very close to Galata towers. We enjoyed the hospitality thoroughly. Would recommend this place to go stay. Thank you for making our trip memorable.

For our return to Istanbul (we stayed in Sultanahmet at the beginning of our trip), our base was the 5 Oda hotel near the Galata Tower. The owner and staff were delightful, the breakfast delivered to our room was delicious, and the elevator for 1½ people was a big hit with our child. We were able to wander out and...

Was recommended by my sister who resides in Turkey part time. Once you find it(get the airport transfer, taxis can't find it either) it's in a great location. Safe & centrally located. An easy walk to the Tunel or a short walk downhill thru music & gift shops to Galata bridge. Much better than staying in Sultanmehet . It may...

What a nice place, 5 rooms only 1/floor, very modern and spacious rooms. Excellent location in Beyoglu, Istanbul. Extremely friendly staff, very helpful and caring. Feels like home!! Beyoglu is excellent for staying away from the old town "sultanahmet" area, although needs public transportation for the landmarks.

Staying in Beyoglu

Neighbourhood Profile
Istanbul’s most famous street, pedestrianized Istiklal Caddesi (Independence Avenue), throbs day and night and offers a fantastic array of architectural sights, shops, treats, and throngs upon teeming throngs of people. At the avenue’s northeastern end is expansive Taksim Square, thought by many to be the very heart of the city, with many of Turkey’s most renowned restaurants and some of Europe’s most happening nightlife in close proximity. In striking contrast, Beyoglu’s less trafficked areas – such as the affluent Cihangir and the antiques district of Cukurcuma – exude Old World charm and provide contemplative calm and splendid diversion via an assortment of cozy cafes, attractive boutiques, and quiet lanes.
