The highlight of the stay at Ares is its location. Less than 2 minutes walk to Hagia Sofiya, Sultan Ahmed mosque, museums and other important attractions. It is in a pedestrian only area and among many restuarants. There is a small shop on the street too, It was basic but clean which was enough for us. Breakfast was the only...

The hotel also had a beautiful view of the mosques which were 2 mins away from the hotel. The hotel...

We visited this hotel on a last minute spontaneous holiday to Istanbul. The hotel is in a great location, 5 minutes walk to the Blue Mosque, 10 minutes walk to the Bazaar and tram station 2 minutes away. We used the tram to get to the hotel from the airport which was excellent value, the man at reception upgraded our...

My overol impresión was an overprice hotel because of the location. It is very near Ayasofya and all the historic places, but really far from the airports and taksim (an área that reserves a visit). It is really difficult to reach the hotel, you can go there only by taxis, and they are rally expensive and not very honest drivers....

The staff was exceedingly nice here, but I froze my first night there. The first room I was shown smelled like sewage, so they moved me to a rear room. There was a draft in this room. I put on every piece of clothing I owned and finally at 3 am, when I was freezing, I called the front desk....

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighbourhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
