Just checked out today after a two night stay at this lovely little hotel. With only four rooms it makes for the perfectly intimate and relaxed place to stay whilst on a city break. We stayed in room four which is on the top floor and found a view beyond any that we've had before around the world. With the...

If I said that we went to this cafe for any other reason than to take a "glass half full" photo, I'd be lying. However, it turned out to be an excellent choice of place! We set up camp to sit and read/write for a few hours while enjoying the view while drinking tea but then it turned into lunch...

We only enjoyed food and traditional Efes Pilsen at this property, but the staff are friendly and it's amazing location along the Hippodrome with people watching abilities appealed tremendously - tiny location, but the atmosphere and casual relaxed nature encouraged us to keep coming back. Food was excellent and nothing was ever too much trouble. Enjoy the Doner Kebap -...

We have chosen this hotel, since it was really good location and one of the most important detail is that the breakfast can be served at any time. It is just amazing, when you can wake up whenever you want, being relaxed and not rushing to catch the breakfast. The hotel is really very cosy and just made up of...

I only visited the restaurant that is very close to the Blue Mosk, in fact on the other side of the street. The food is good, they have reasonable prices and I loved the moments spent there. The stuff is very friendly and they speak good English. The place definitively has heart of his one :)

We found this Hotel by chance, on Booking.com, and we were a bit wary: 45 euros per nite, right on the Hippodrome??! But we were even more surprised and struck with awe when they showed us our room: it was on the last floor, room n.4, with a 3 side panoramic view over the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sofia, the sea...

Whilst visiting the hippodrome in the centre of the old town we decided to stop and have some lunch. It was an extremely cold day so the outside heaters were very welcome. We ordered Meatballs (Kofte) which were very tasty with nice rice and fresh veg, and not unreasonably priced. staff were very friendly, And the toilets were clean. So...

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighbourhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
