The Basileus Hotel is one of a kind. The rooms are clean and organised, the staff are very friendly, the hotel is in a very good location and it comes at a very cheap price. This hotel also serves an amazing breakfast: there are wide range of options to choose from and each one tastes better than the next; they...

We stayed 5 nights at the Basileus hotel and very much enjoyed our stay. When we came, we were shown 2 rooms to choose from - one more quiet with a window to the back garden, the other one slightly brighter with a window towards the small street and the old Hamam on the other side. We chose the room...

I have stayed at the Baselius Hotel three times while visiting Istanbul. The first two times I traveled with my husband but this last visit in July of '16 was with my daughter for her college graduation trip. The hotel arranged for us to be picked up at the airport and when we arrived Selim gave us our choice of...

This is the third time we have stayed at the Basileus Hotel and like the first two times, it was wonderful. We were welcomed like family by Selim, with hugs and kisses. The rooms are nicely appointed and the Turkish breakfast is varied and delicious. The hotel is located close to Sultanahmet, Hagia Sofia, and Topkapi Palace. The hotel is...

No complaints here, very central, 3 minutes away from the very centre, the historic one I mean, convenient to restaurants, and the metro line and very accommodating and helpful. Rooms are nice and bright, clean with a safe, and good value at around €26 a night. I'd come back.

i made the reservation for my brother in law and his wife for their honeymoon and i contacted the hotel to make sure they arrived from the airport and to tell them it's a honeymoon not a business trip. The hotel upgraded the room as a honeymoon compliment, gave him the wifi password immediately so he can call me and...

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighbourhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
