Last week my boyfriend and I decided to stay at the Blue Istanbul Hotel. My boyfriend checked in a day before me and to his total dismay he was disgusted by both the attitude of the person at front desk and the hotel itself. Upon check-in he was offered a basement room when he didn't accept it he was asked...

Excellent location in the center, close to tramway and all important places (like Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque, Grand Bazaar) and others. Hosts were helpful and very polite. Rooms are clean and cozy. Internet could be better, though.

I loved the location. 5 minutes from public transportation and close to the sights. I booked a small room, but got much prettier and more of it. Clean, friends, and peaceful place. Nice and friendly staff. Only the view from the window I do not like it, but everything else is good. I would go back there again!

I believe this should be your top choice for Istanbul. Nice cozy room, good location (you can literally walk to all the sites in the old city), and an amazing cost-benefit. The staff was also nice and helpful. Felt like a Sultan!

I like the facilities the room and the area where this Hotel is located, right in the middle of all historical places. Only the view could be something confusing because it is advertised that rooms have a city view, that you might see on your booking page, but when you get there we were offered an upgrade (not for free)...

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighbourhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
