I have stayed for a week time in Sura Hagia Hotel (last week of November) The hotel location is perfect and near all facilities and major historical sites and Mesueums, at 150m from Sutanahmet tram station where you can have connection with other parts of Istanbul. The personnel in the hotel are so friendly, the breakfast is very rich and...

I strongly recommend the Hagia Sophia. Located a stone's throw from the Agia Sophia and Blue Mosque and a short walk to the tram line, you can see the sights and move easily around the city. The hotel architecture is fascinating: a modern reproduction of a traditional Ottoman caravansarei, so abundant beautifully inlaid wood and natural materials. Staff was good,...

Lovely hotel in a great central location right near Hagia Sophia, the Blue Mosque and Sultanamet area. Hotel is clean and modern in an area with mainly traditional hotels. It was quiet (few tourists/guests) so it seemed that the hotel was running in limp mode. No cooling aircon, no stair lighting, very few staff. Other than the lack of aircon...

Lovely hotel in great location. Room was hot and aircon wouldn't work. Reception advised "cannot cool. Aircon on winter mode. open window". We opened the window and room cooled to 27 degrees but street noise kept us awake. Stairway lighting on hotel non existent. Saving power is commendable but not at the expense of comfort and safety.

This is a nice hotel with very friendly and helpful staff. The rooms are spacious, but look a bit dated. Comfortable beds. Coffee/Tea making facility in the room. But where this hotel really scores is on its location. Walking distance from Istanbul's main attractions like the Hagia Sofia, the Blue Mosque and the Topkapi palace. There are also ample eating...

My husband and i went for 3 nights. Loved the location. Staff was super helpful. It's right across the 360 panoramic rooftop restaurant. Large hotel and walking distance, literally down the blockfrom bacillus cistern,Aya Sofia and blue mosque and grand bazaar.

You can see whole Sophia Hagia from room. Very short walking distance to museums. The light rail and fine restaurants are just around neighborhood. If you were not picky services of hotel breakfirst and other facilities, it would be the best choice for traveling in IST. We stayed this hotel twice, and think that it was a wise choice.

The hotel is very central and is right next to Basilica cistern. Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque and Topkapi are just a few minutes away. The rooms of the hotel are modern and spacious. By and large the rooms are clean but daily cleaning/service was a little erratic during our stay especially with the replenishment of the complimentary water and chocolates....

I don't know what is it with Istanbul, most hotels I've to, were 5 stars hotels, yet have poor breakfast. It really annoys me as a foodie, especially with the meal I love the most. I didn't like the hotel's breakfast at all. It's has a great location, just few steps away from Hagia Sophia, and the blue mosque. You...

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighbourhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
