We spent lovely 8 days in hotel Kumru in October 2012. The hotel is easily accesible by public transport right from the airport (ca. 45 min. trip) and located right in the heart of the Sultanahment historic district. That makes all the key city landmarks in this part of town right within a short walk. So this hotel can serve...

When arriving in a new city one should always be met by the people from the Kumru Hotel. Efficient, friendly, articulate and very welcoming. One is quickly introduced to a spacious room with color and light. Melissa and Abdul, the owners of this year old boutique hotel have a personal touch that makes Istanbul accessible and easy, they have wonderful...

Our experience at the Kumru Hotel was exceptional from beginning to end, from our pick up at the airport in a comfortable van by two of their friendly staff, to the emergency drop off of our house keys at the airport on our way home. Melissa and Abdul, partners and owners, spent quite of bit of time with us orienting...

Kumru Hotel is part local, part international - and a perfect place to stay while visiting the city where Europe meets Asia. Having never been to Istanbul before, my partner and I weren't sure what to expect - just that we were looking for an adventure in January. We got off the tram from the airport and found snow flakes...

Other reviewers have covered it, but let me add my kudos to Kumru's owners. This new boutique hotel is so clean and cute and perfectly located that you can't go wrong staying here. Great breakfast spread, great people working there. Go and enjoy Istanbul!

The hotel has it all. Great location, our room had a great view with windows that open wide to the city. The hotel breakfast was the best I've ever had. The owners were nice and very helpful. Very close to the turkish baths, which Melissa and Ahmed recommended. The room was pretty good size, with comfortable beds and down comforters.

This bed and breakfast is darling, in the heart of all you want to see. 10 minute walk to the Blue Mosque and the Hagia Sophia, it's ideal for car-less travellers. The breakfast spread alone is worth the stay. And that's to say nothing of the hospitality. The owners were at breakfast each morning to greet their guests and were...

This is my second trip to Istanbul and Kumru Hotel is leaps and bounds above the other hotel that I stayed at. The rooms are spacious compared to typical Turkish rooms and the breakfast was the BEST meal of the day. I traveled with my 7 month old baby and two friends and the owners, Abdul and Melissa were more...

I actually chose to stay at the Kumru based solely on I was a single female traveler from the US and the co-owner Melissa had been as well when she arrived to Istanbul. I was greeted by Abdul in the street as I was trying to find the hotel and he recognized me after I had liked there Facebook page....

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighbourhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
