In two visits, my wife and I enjoyed a total of seven nights in this delightful hotel in the south of Istanbul's old city, a short (uphill) walk from the Hippodrome and many major sights. Service and breakfasts were very good and the place was clean and very pleasant, although early nearby morning calls to prayer interrupted sleep. However, rooms...

The Sokullu Pasa is very well situated, close to the Blue Mosque and attractions of Sultanhamet. We stayed for 5 nights in two different rooms, both of which were good. Not huge but more than comfortable, clean with good beds. No views to speak of. In fact our first room was in the basement but the good bed, quietness and...

PROS (well mostly!) GOOD LOCATION - in the "old town" if you're wanting to see the historic sites...the streets are v narrow, even the locals having trouble with the narrow streets, eg we saw a taxi side swipe a parked car. So, we feel we made the right decision in organising a driver/guide to show us sites that we could...

We booked 4 nights at the hotel in late May and were impressed by both the standard of the hotel and the commitment of the staff. The hotel had everything you would expect from a modern hotel and was in an excellent location. Everything was easily accessible and the rooms were maintained to a good standard. The highlight for us...

We spend a weekend at Sokullu Pasa and we really enjoyed it. Great location, friendly staff and wonderful breakfast. The room was very nice with a balcony overlooking the sea. The staff helped us with everything we needed. Great located for all the must sees in Istanbul. If we go to Istanbul again we definitely stay there again.

This hotel was really a great find and made our stay in Istanbul as comfortable as possible. Rooms are rather small but charming. All else is simply superb - very friendly staff, clean premises, perfect location, excellent breakfast choices that change everyday. You are also just a 5 minute walk from the Blue mosque which is quite ideal. Staff were...

We loved this quaint Boutique Hotel, not everything was as we expected, but the staff were so helpful, polite and welcoming, that we easily forgave the foibles, like the not very good shower head, or the room they offered us where the door didn't shut properly, (which when they discovered it they immediately gave us a better room.) The breakfast...

I stayed at Sokullu Pasa for five days with a friend I haven't seen in many years, and I absolutely recommend this hotel to anyone considering staying here. The rooms are charming (though small), and the hotel is really aesthetically lovely. We enjoyed breakfast in the outdoor patio most mornings (with the exception of one rainy day). The staff was...

Great location, amazing staff, absolutely beautiful room. Fantastic breakfast, best in turkey after 2 weeks here and numerous hotels. Staff was helpful and made us feel welcome, accommodated personal requests. Great one on one tour, avoid the Bosphorus recommendation.

Excellent location, nice hotel facilities fitted in a relatively small building (garden, restaurant, lobby - looked bigger on pictures), staff friendly, volunteered help and city information unprompted

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighbourhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
