The Hotel Nena is located on the more modern side of the Old City, close to the Blue and Red mosques just off a busy street. The traffic noise is not too bad and the hotel is easy to find; it is a short walk from many shops and restaurants. The rooms are small, filled with heavy, dark furniture that...

I stayed at Nena hotel for just one night but it was an excellent experience. I was received at the airport and was transferred to the hotel in a very comfortable coaster. The room was very neat and clean and the views of Blue Mosque from the terrace were breathtaking. The staff is very friendly and nice. I would like...

We found a reference to the Nena in Budget Travel and looked into it. It proved to be the best move for our first trip to Istanbul, equipped with nothing more than a guidebook. The hotel is excellently located and we were able to walk to most of the prime tourist sites, from the underground cisterns to the Grand Bazaar,...

We spent 5 very pleasant days in this hotel with its characteristic friendly atmosphere created by the extremely dedicated and helpful staff and by the presence of excellent facilities, including free internet access and an on-time (!) shuttle service. Tidy rooms and useful and reliable tips of the staff for tourists in Istanbul. A wonderful view on the Golden Horn/Bosporus...

A friend of mine recommended me to stay at this hotel. I was 100% satisfied with its location, personnel, food and cleanliness. The only thing (but I think it is a general problem in Istanbul) is parking, i.e. if you have friends coming to see you in the hotel, they will have difficulties with parking around.

I have just spent three days in Istanbul staying at Hotel Nena. The hotel is so well located, between all the major attractions. The Staff were very helpfull and welcoming. I was there for a wedding located on the outskirts of the city, so the reception helped to get a cab and made sure we would not be overcharged by...

staff very helpful in this small boutique hotel which is a short walk to the historical sights, we triple shared and the room was quite large enough, the towels were large and thick and changed daily unlike some hotels of this classification, the trams are 1 minutes walk away so getting around the larger Istanbul is easy. Breakfast was good...

The best part of our stay here was the wonderful breakfast that was laid out -other than eggs cooked in various styles, a variety of cheese, breads, cornflakes, juices, I loved the turkish prepparations like auberjine in yougert. The room was fairly comfortable, and the staff were fine.

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighbourhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
