This was a perfect location for a romantic, sightseeing break. Situated in a quiet side road, just off the main street leading down to the two mosques , Yerebatan Sarnici (cisterns) and Topkapi Palace and up to the Grand Bazaar, these main attractions were within easy walking distance. From our room we looked out over the Blue Mosque, Aya Sophia,... More

We stayed at Nena Hotel from May 28-31, 2009. The communication with the hotel prior to our stay was excellent and they had a handy system where you could indicate arrival times for your airport pickup. The location is fabulous, as it is in walking distance to all the sights and near the tram. Oh, and it is near a... More

I really liked the hotel. I was a single female traveller and felt extremely safe and comfortable in this hotel. The staff is very polite and helpful. The room was very clean and furniture nice and quite ergonomic. I liked the paper slippers and plastic flowers in the (beautiful) bathroom. I also liked the design of the hotel - old... More

Friendly hotel with staff always pleased to assist. We had a room overlooking the Blue Mosque and fantastic views. Beds extremely comfortable and lovely crisp linen. Breakfast buffet style with good choice and lovely fresh bread. Would highly recommend and only a couple of minutes walk from tram stop and within easy walking distance of Blue Mosque and palace.

We heartily recommend the Nena hotel for your stay in Istanbul! It is nicely situated in Sultanahmet, close to the Blue Mosque and the Hagia Sophia - in fact from the rooftop restaurant you have a beautiful view on these two landmarks of Istanbul. More importantly, the hotel has outstanding and very friendly staff, extremely helpful in many ways, e.g.... More

great location, within very easy stroll of Blue Mosque, Basilica Cistern and Aya Sofia as well as the excellent trams. We had a deluxe room (room 401)which was right below the restaurant and our wall was common to the restaurant stairway. As the floors and hallways are uncarpeted our room became extremely noisy from the patrons coming and going. We... More

My husband and I went to Istanbul for Spring break. Our first impression is: well, I guess we will have to try to fit in this room. We had to have plans on how to best use the VERY little space in the room. The room is SMALL! VERY SMALL! Even compared to our hotel in China- it is very... More

We just stayed there for 4 days. This place is great value for money, is very central, and provides a decent breakfast in the morning. Also, If you stay over 3 days you get a free taxi to and from the airport. My one small complaint was that the walls are very thin (or maybe my neighbour was just VERY... More

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighbourhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
