I can recommend the Turkoman Hotel to anyone seeking guest-house style lodgings in a central location. It is a clean, attractive old house just a brief walk from almost everything you would want to visit in the historic Sultanahmet neighborhood, yet conveniently a bit away from the most intense back-packer area. (It is somewhat in the "boutique hotel" style, though...

Very friendly staff, marvelous view, very good value for money. Near to the most attractions. The best part of the day to wake up and go to the roof for breakfast, sitting on the terrace with the next cup of coffee and enjoying the unboredable Marmaris bay.

This is a wonderful boutique style hotel. The room was very spacious with both a queen bed and 2 twin beds. The terrace view was great and the breakfast on the terrace was good. The owner of the hotel was very accommodating and helpful I appreciated him carrying our luggage to and from our room. Would stay here again in...

I have stayed here a number of times and I highly recommend it. Small hotel, central location, nice rooms - smart and clean, fantastic rooftop restaurant, with outside area - where better to have your breakfast in Istanbul than overlooking the blue mosque

We spent four nights in the Turkoman Hotel (3 when we arrived in Istanbul and 1 as we prepared to leave). The rooms are fine but the two standouts were the view from the rooms and the incredible rooftop deck and the people who run and manage the hotel. They made us feel like family -- treating us specially and...

in Istanbul, epsecially for the first-time visitor! It is very close to the main and must see attractions, the rooms are very comfortable and the breakfast is excellent. The staff treats you as a member of the family and is willing to assist you at any time. Do not miss the hamam experience at cemberlitas (if i wrote it down...

Not your bland Eurotel but very nice as long as you don't need an elevator. Room was small but comfortable and spotlessly clean. Very nice bathroom with good shower and plenty of hot water. Staff very helpful and nice. View over Hippodrome from front rooms and terrace lounge was terrific. Lounge has a wood fire going which was welcome on...

The good--we had a fabulous view from our room overlooking the Blue Mosque. There are even more panoramic views from the breakfast area on the top floor. The staff were welcoming and helpful. The condition of the hotel reminded me of Paris circa 1965--good structure and furnishings, but worn over the years, and a gasping heating system. Our room must...

Clean and comfortable bed but a rather tired decor in most sections of the hotel. Cistern problems one night kept us awake but fixed the next day. Lovely views of the Blue Mosque from the breakfast room were a major attraction of this hotel.

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighbourhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
