If you are looking for a modern hotel, this is not your destination hotel. Staying in this hotel gave myself and my family a touch of the old Turkish palaces and how it was designed. Overlooking the fascinating Blue mosque on one side and the Bosphore, I personally think it has the best ever view of the blue mosque. The...

Small, quaint, lovely, comfortable and well appointed rooms. Just 1 block from the Blue Mosque & Hague Sofia, a long but fun walk to the Bazaar, and a great jumping off point for most of old Istanbul.

I really liked this hotel for several reasons, location being the first! It is in a small, quiet street down by the bosphore, but just a few minutes walk from topkapi, hagia sofia, gulhane park, and the most amazing hammam and bath house I've ever visited (Suleymaniye hamam). There is a lovely courtyard in front with a breathtaking view of...

The Sultanahmet Palace Hotel is an oasis in a very chaotic city. The staff are helpful and friendly. The breakfast is very good in the beautiful dining room overlooking the ocean. The room was quiet and clean, with a large bathroom. The bed was very comfortable.

I found this hotel on the net and chose it because it was different - an old sultan's palace with only 45 rooms (pity about the 3 flights of stairs to the room but worth the view). We looked out our bedroom window onto the Blue Mosque! The other side of the hotel looks out over the Bosphorus, a lovely...

This is a lovely hotel in an amazing location. Breakfast was varied and plentiful; rooms were clean; staff were civil. Negatives: small rooms with little storage ; paint peeling on ceiling; awkward bathrooms. If you're a light sleeper, the 5 am muezzin call, through loudspeakers, could be a real problem. Air con was bizarre.

Wow what a surprise to walk out of the hotel lobby through a pretty garden to be greeted with the awesome Blue Mosque imposing into the sky. We could never get enough of this view and all lit up at night made us quite dizzy. The hotel was spotlessly clean and all staff very efficient and welcoming. We had a...

Ideally located next to the Blue Mosque and a short walk from Aya Sofia and Sultan's Palace, this hotel is perfectly adequate, with friendly staff and a good dining and breakfast service. The rooms are on the small side, but comfortable and equipped with unique little bath rooms with heated tiled walls and seating in the shower! Staff were friendly...

The hotel is a beauty in and of itself both inside and out. The rooms are adequately sized, clean and light. Our room had a lovely balcony overlooking the Blue Mosque. The staff was friendly and helpful. We had a delicious breakfast each day in a scenic dining room. I would highly recommend this hotel because aside from all of...

Spent three nights at this hotel on returning from touring Turkey. Free transport was provided one way from airport to the hotel. The first night was spent in a small room on the upper level with a balcony overlooking the Bosphorous. The hamam style bathroom was miniature with frequent water closures. After complaining about the water problem we were upgraded...

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighbourhood Profile
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
