This is a Turkish hotel, not an American chain! The large lobby is itself a prize-winning museum. The room is comfortable; the bathroom was just fine. Breakfast was an eye-opener, heavy on Turkish food tastes with enough to meet an American's needs. Its great advantage is being down the hill from the historic sites (we walked up to Topkapi Palace...

Hello, I was bowled over by the location of this hotel. The rooftop restaurant offered extraordinary views of downtown Istanbul. The restaurant menu choices throughout the hotel were outstanding, to say the least. Thanks, Mark G. Flanders Road Scholar Customer

We have stayed at the Armada several times over the past few years. It's in a great location for seeing the local sights with the Blue Mosque, Aya Sophia and the Grand Bazaar only a few minutes walk away. It's a lovely place, Ottoman styled. The beds are very comfortable with lovely bedding, the soaps in the bathroom are wonderful...

Just got back last night from Istanbul, and wanted to be sure to tell everyone what a great hotel for a reasonable price in Istanbul. We just did one night at the end of a cruise, but would definitely stay there again. It was just a block from the waterfront and a couple of blocks from the Blue Mosque in...

The hotel is very comfortable and well priced. The patio for outside dining has one of the best views in Istanbul of the historical attractions and the water. The breakfast is a delicious spread of food with something for everyone. The staff is helpful and thorough. I would recommend this hotel to anyone traveling to Istanbul and hope to stay...

My friend booked this hotel for us and I thought it was going to cost me: they have their own parking garage (and they kept my key at the desk and made the transfer to the rental company), they have a delightful breakfast with a view from their terrace, they are in an Ottoman building which is lovingly restored, the...

Very good hotel. Big and ver very clean rooms. Amazing breakfast, lunch and dinner and the service was simply perfect, for example you can ask them to change your bed if you feel that it's too hard or too soft. Also, they told us lots of suggestions about places to visit, how to move on the city, restaurants, etc... In...

Hotel - excellent location, with views of the Blue Mosque from your bedroom, helpful service and a great base for the Old City, but the highlight is the terrace, being able to see one of the Blue Mosque, Agia Sophia and the Bosphorus while eating berakfast of when drinking in the evening would have been special - but to see...

I'm not easily impressed but this was a top, top hotel. It wasn't the most expensive option but it was in a great spot, with views from the terrace over the sea in one direction and the old city and mosques in the other. Service was spot on, the whole place was very clean, breakfast and dinner on the roof...

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighbourhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
