We booked the Orient Hostel about a month in advance of our trip and arranged a tour of Cappadocia through the tour company there. Staff promptly responded to emails, doing their best to accommodate our tight budget and hectic time line. Upon arriving, we were greeted by genuinely friendly and helpful staff, clean rooms, an amazing view and engaging fellow...

We had a great experience from the time we checked in. Everyone was super friendly and helped us a lot whenever we needed something. The rooms were nice. Comfy beds, free lockers, free safe boxes at the reception, wifi everywhere, good food at the restaurants in the front and roof top were more than expected from a hostel. Overall we...

It was my first experience in a hostel and have to say, while it is different from a hotel, the staff and guest living/working there made it amazing. It was dead in the center in the heart of Istanbul so everything was walking distance. Miss the Turkish cuisine and night life, and of course the culture and scenery.

My sister, girlfriend and I stayed at the Orient June 8-10 and again the 13-15. Of course the location is perfect for a Sultanahmet stay but what really makes it special are the staff. My sister had fallen ill on the plane on the way to Istanbul. When we arrived at the hostel from the airport, Ozden, Onrr, and Berkay...

I just got back from an amazing trip to Turkey and staying in the old city at the Orient in Istanbul was the key to my enjoyment. The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive, they seemed to know my questions before I asked them and always making sure you're happy! The restaurant/lounge area looks out into the festive street and...

I've nver actually had such an amazing experience staying at a hostel. Location, location, location! All of your main attractions are 1-3 minute walking distance. The hostel itself is clean, safe, convenient, and ccozy! The staff here are truly the most kind hearted, genuine, fun loving people I have ever met. Increddibly helpful at anytime of day or night.. The patio at this cute hostel was a great place to have drinks and visit with other travellers. I was actually staying down the street elsewhere but I enjoyed their patio and staff. The host did not annoy me like most on the street (ie. no clapping men, yelling "yes please lady" at me).

My partner and I had a great experience from the time we walked in. The staff were super friendly and even tried to explain things in an aussie accent so we could understand better. (Much to their amusement) The downstairs bar has a great atmosphere and staff are happy to have a chat and laugh. Only downer of the stay...

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighbourhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
