A very convenient location in the busy street in european part of town catering for group tourist. Near to major attractions , like blue mosque, hagia sophia ,topkapi museum Plenty of cafes and shops around the area and near to a modern shopping complex. For the breakfast not much of variety and after staying for three nights you wouldnot want...

During our recent trip to Istanbul my wife and I spent two nights at this hotel. The "Berr" seems to cater primarily to groups and as such appears to be a typical tourist hotel. It is conveniently located at a busy street in the European part of town and close to the major attractions such as Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia...

I stayed at Berr Hotel twice this year (June and July) and found the property to be of great value with a service-driven culture. It is located steps away from the metro which links the area to the airport (about 5 minutes walk to the metro station and 20 minutes to the airport by metro). The property is also very...

I had no complaints with the hotel originally but that was because my boyfriend had done our checkin the previous afternoon and I had not yet dealt with the insufferable man working reception. It was our last day and since it had snowed the night before, we wanted to fit in a fast stop at the Blue Mosque before our...

Bring your own shampoo!!! I was allocated a double room on arrival, fairly large room compared to most pre-fab construction these days. this is a old hotel that requires sprucing, however this should not deter the traveller as the price is reasonable, nice location, walking distance to the metro, continous hot water in room and great housekeeping. If by any...

Staying in Fener & Balat

Neighbourhood Profile
Fener & Balat
This sleepy and rather socially conservative area of Istanbul hosts a small but thriving Jewish community, the patriarchate of the Eastern Orthodox Church, and some of the most beautiful churches and Christian art in the world. Much of what’s most interesting to witness in Fener and Balat sits between the surviving ancient city walls of Constantinople and the serene shores of the Golden Horn. Despite the many splendid sights, historic attractions, stunning vistas, and warm Turkish welcome, the area remains largely unperturbed by the tourist trade that characterizes the atmosphere in nearby Sultanahmet and around the Grand Bazaar. Travelers that like to explore off the beaten track will reap big rewards for making the effort to visit this low-key part of town.
