Before my recent trip to Istanbul and stay at Erboy, I was pretty skeptical about the authenticity of hotel reviews that we find at the internet. I am glad to be proven wrong after a great stay at Erboy from 21st to 28th August (2008). I am not sure about the bad experiences by some reviewers but can assure that... More

2008 Folktour and everything was just great. Free internet in Lobby. Two computers - one was broken. Staff very helpful in translating Turkish keyboard to English. I paid the single supplement but my room had two single beds. Staff offered to put them together for me. My small room was spotless. Beautiful bathroom with telephone shower. Don't forget to bring... The rooms had a strong smell of spices and did not look as clean as they should. The cleaners came to clean the room at 4pm and they didnt change the bed sheets for all 4 days i've stayed there. Breakfast didnt look or taste good. The restaurant was ok. To make it up, the people of the hotel where... More

we stayed for 2 weeks. A quiet , comfortable, convenient location. close to all the historical sites and transport. Gorgeous free breakfast and lovely dinner menu, backed by very friendly personnel. highly recommended as facilities are a 3-star plus. loved the walk in adjacent gulhane park.

I found the Erboy an excellent place to stay for a reasonable price. Rooms not as luxurious as more expensive digs, but very friendly, helpful staff with an array of services available (ironing and other laundry services; free internet access in lobby; free use of safe boxes; etc) As a woman traveling alone, it was important to me to be... I have just returned from Istanbul and I stayed 6 nights at the Erboy. I chose this hotel based on the good reviews it received on tripadvisor.com and they proved to be true to reality. First of all, it felt very reassuring that the PR staff of the hotel contacted us a few days before our arrival and offered to... More

The staff at the Erboy hotel were both professional, yet easy to get along with. They made you feel like you were right at home! Meals were prepared quickly and were great. The guest relations manager gave us great advise as to what to see and the best way to get there. What a perfect place to stay in Istanbul!

Staff was very courteous and helpfull, location was great, but that was about it. Room was small, old and with basic facilities. There is a sign advicing that tap water is not fit for drinking, but no drinking water is provided. THERE IS NO FRIDGE IN THE ROOM. I guess the reasoning is: in the room THAT small, the second... We booked the Erboy primarily because of its location to all the 'must see' sights of the old city of Istanbul and because we found most of the published reviews were positive. We were very glad we did. The postion is just great, the staff very friendly and helpful and the rooms although small and a bit old, were very... More

This hotel is in an ideal location near to tram stops and major sites. You will find the staff friendly and efficient as well as extremely knowledgable. We tried to learn some Turkish phrases but you will find lots of the staff can converse well in English. Try the hotel top floor restaurant for a fantastic dining experience overlooking the... More

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighbourhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
