Hotel is located near blue mosque, it is walking distance to most of the historical places, initial reaction when we arrived at the hotel was it is very small, when we were shown our triple room we thought you can't even swing a cat here. We asked to see other rooms however we suspected to find space at premium, we...

Nice friendly staff, rooms were clean, breakfast could do with a bit more choice, the only warm thing was the water for the tea. The shower was amazing hot and the pressure was powerful just like a pressure washer very good at the end of a hard day. Hotel is about 10 mins to main attractions the blue mosque and...

This little hotel has spacious rooms and bathrooms, well appointed and nicely decorated, on 4 floors of a narrow building. Very clean. Staff are very friendly, and carry the bags up and down readily. Mataraci Konak is near enough to the major attractions to walk there, and far enough to be off the madding way. Restaurants next door, across the...

This is an excellent hotel in a magnificent historical city located in the heart of Istanbul (sultanahmet). This hotel has a short walking distance to all the main historical attractions such as the Blue Mosque: Sultanahmet, Topkapi Palace, Büyük Ayasofya, Grand Bazaar, The Basilica and the Bosphorus sea (Istanbul Bogazi). The room I stayed in was great and my bed...

The b&b was only ok. It fell short of expectations, mainly because of the service - felt like they were beginners in the business. Several minor points, but they do add up: 1) I like unsweetened coffee with my breakfast. This wasn't available when I asked for it on the first day, and even on the second day they had...

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighbourhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
