I highly recommend this small hotel. I stayed in this hotel twice – at the start of my Turkey adventure and my last night before flying back home. Management and staff are commended for their friendly and helpful assistance. Breakfast was the same each morning but enjoyable with a good selection of bread, fruit, cheese etc. and a choice of...

From the moment I booked this hotel, Mehmet (owner) provided excellent service. On arrival, check-in was quick and Mehmet made us feel very welcome. The room was excellent and he had provided a cot for our baby as requested. Mehmet went through all the attractions, where to go and where not to go in order to stay safe. He provided...

It's a small run hotel with a very helpful owner and staff... Upon arrival pointed out where everything was situated, attraction wise. I had a room at the back of the hotel, quiet except for the sound of animals, not barking dogs just the birds etc.. Animals seem to enjoy life here in Turkey as they are always chatting away,...

Very friendly staff. Nice clean hotel. very close to all the attractions. a bit pricy but lovely overall. easy parking available if you have rented a car. The manager is local so he knows Istanbul inside out, if you need help with any travelling he is a perfect person to guide.

We spent three nights in Istanbul to round off a holiday in Cappadocia. This is a small, friendly hotel four minutes walk from the Blue Mosque and other major sites. It was probably the cleanest and most comfortable hotel I have stayed in, with lovely shower and very comfortable beds, air con, and free wifi. Mehmed helped us find our...

The location is perfect, just a few hundred meters from Sultanahmet Mosque. The owner besides being genuinely friendly and polite, helps you everyday in making a plan on what to see and where to go. The rooms are spacious and very clean. The breakfast is tasty and plenty with local produce. Overall highly recommended!

Our stay in Sultan Mehmed Hotel was wonderful in so many ways. Firstly, the relationship value/money is the best I have ever seen. The rooms are very nice and clean, and the hotel is placed in the historic centre (the Sultanahmet), very close to many important places to visit (as the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Islamic Museum, Basilica Cistern,...

We found this boutique hotel after lots of internet research and it more than met our expectations. We stayed twice - once for three nights in a standard room, and then again for two nights in a superior room. Both rooms were very comfortable, with king-size beds, and roomier than we had expected for a location in the heart of...

Staying in Sultanahmet

Neighbourhood Profile
Sultanahmet
With so many unmissable attractions within a mere stroll of each other – and all set around the site of an ancient Byzantine hippodrome – Sultanahmet is an overwhelmingly popular tourist destination, and a prime location for visitors to be wowed on a truly epic scale. Beyond the wonders of the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and more, this relatively small area of Istanbul somehow manages to retain an air of peace and calm. It offers visitors a significantly less celebrated but nonetheless pleasant network of quaint lanes and side streets, majestic panoramas of the Bosphorus, and an impressive assortment of accommodation options for all budgets and tastes.
